Tonight’s show started on an exciting note, since Jeff Gutt was tasked with singing the ultra-hard “Bohemian Rhapsody.” He’s always been so-so as a performer to me, but he did well tonight — because I thought the arrangement was adjusted a little to fit his voice range. However, Demi Lovato thought it was his best performance ever!
Tim Olstad‘s performance of “Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word” was solid, and better than usual — but not sure if he’s finals material. I haven’t seen much pizzazz from him yet!
The adorable Khaya Cohen sang a powerful, gospel-like version of “Let It Be,” and I cannot believe she was in the bottom two last week — and neither could Simon Cowell! She’s definitely got the voice to be in the finals.
Josh Levi, another favorite of mine, absolutely killed it when he sang an amazing dubstep version of “Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This).” He’s proven himself to be so versatile, and this is a time where completely re-arranging a song totally paid off! Kelly Rowland is even jealous that Paulina Rubio is his mentor.
Lovebirds Alex & Sierra sang a laid-back version of “Best Song Ever,” and even if it was a little pitchy, they’re so cute that it doesn’t matter!
Rion Paige dazzled the judges with a flawless, sweet version of “Your Song,” and made them all emotional! I definitely think she’ll make it to the finals.
Carlito Olivero performed a decent version of “Satisfaction,” with some spicy dancing, but there’s always something missing in his performances to me!
Lillie McCloud knocked “This Woman’s Work” out of the ballpark, even though it was her most uniquely different performance to date.
Ellona Santiago sings “Burn,” and it may have “burned” her! Her singing is a bit flat and she struggled to keep the rhythm, but overall, it was good — just maybe not her best!
Restless Road performed “Fix You,” and they did a good job with putting a little twang on a Coldplay song.
