The ‘Duck Dynasty’ fam may be on top of the world right now, but a new trailer for the upcoming film ‘The Robertsons’ shows that things weren’t always that way. Phil and Miss Kay finally open up about Phil’s alcoholism and infidelity in a shocking new 30-minute special.
Robertson family patriarch Phil Robertson, 67, is a pretty solid, Jesus-loving dude on Duck Dynasty. But the family’s new tell-all doc, The Robertsons, reveals shocking pre-fame struggles that show the family in a completely different light.
Miss Kay: Phil ‘Was Running Around On Me’
Phil and Miss Kay are one of our favorite TV pairings, so we were shocked to learn that Phil ran around on Kay before he gave up drinking and found Jesus. “You can only run the ‘ol sex, drugs, and rock and roll so far,” Phil says in the latest teaser for the film, which will be broadcast Nov. 21 on Christian site IAmSecond.com.
“The drinking got worse,” Miss Kay says in a teaser for the film. “And I knew then, but I didn’t want to believe it — he was running around on me. And what I would tell my boys all the time is, ‘That’s not your daddy. That’s the devil in your daddy.'”
Jep Robertson Looks Back
Phil wasn’t the only Robertson family member dealing with demons before fame came his way. Youngest son Jep Robertson also says that he was “hoping to turn his life around” before he found Jesus and then, subsequently, fame. A lot of his depression had to do with his father’s alcoholism and abandonment, which left some permanent scars.
“I got in a big barroom brawl,” Phil says. “The laws got after me… I would say the low point was when I ran Miss Kay and the kids off.”
What do you think of the trailer, HollywoodLifers? Will you watch as the Duck Dynasty clan takes a thankful look back for Thanksgiving?
