‘The Voice’ was ‘an amazing ride’ for Austin, and he tells HollywoodLife.com that the ride’s not over yet!
Despite a last-minute effort from his devoted fans, Austin Jenckes was one of the two singers eliminated Nov. 19 on The Voice — but don’t expect him to slow down anytime soon! HollywoodLife.com caught up with the Washington native shortly after his number came up, and he told us he’s got big plans for the future.
“I’ve written over 200 songs, and I’ve done a lot of things as an independent artist,” he told us.”I want to show people what I write, and my most important thing now is telling stories and connecting with people through my songs. I want to be on the road as much as possible and share with people what I have to offer.”
Austin Jenckes: Blake Shelton ‘Builds My Confidence’
Though Austin has been honing his craft for years, he told us he believes in himself now more than ever — thanks to his coach, Blake Shelton!
“Just knowing that Blake believes and understands what I do is great,” Austin explained. “I moved to Nashville two years ago to be a songwriter. I was OK with playing my guitar at coffee houses, but now there’s so much more to consider, and having a guy like Blake enjoy what I do makes things that much more valid. It’s just huge, and it builds my confidence.”
Austin Jenckes: What He’ll Miss About ‘The Voice’
Of course, Austin is still sad to be leaving the competition — even if it’s not for the reasons you might think.
“I will miss the free food, that’s for sure!” he told us. “I’m also definitely going to miss the contestants, and the people from production, and obviously my coach. I’ll see them soon, but it’ll be in a different context. It was an amazing ride, and I’m very happy to have been a apart of it.”
