So horrific! A beautiful 6-year-old girl was abducted and later found dead tied up in a garbage bag and tarp containing her body and discarded clothing. Her teenage neighbor is accused of abducting and raping the child before discarding her body.
Tyler Holder, now 18, is believed by police to have abducted, raped, and smothered his Saginaw, Tex. neighbor, 6-year-old Alanna Gallagher, to death on July 1, 2013. An autopsy report released on Nov. 13 revealed that Alanna’s body was submerged under water in attempts to hide the evidence.
Girl, 6, Smothered With Plastic Bags & Submerged In Water By Neighbor, 17
An ongoing investigation hoped to find whether the girl was killed before being submerged in water, but police are still looking for answers. It was found that Alanna died “from asphyxia caused by four plastic Wal-Mart sacks placed over her head, then secured with red tape wrapped around her neck and head,” reported Star Telegram.
The girl’s limbs were found bound with tape and she was wearing only her t-shirt, which had been pulled up. Her shorts and underwear were discovered in the tarp.
The autopsy also revealed evidence of sexual assault, including the presence of sperm, according to Star Telegram.
Suspected Kidnapper & Murderer Indicted
Tyler was linked to the little girl’s murder after investigators matched the DNA sample he provided them to DNA found on Alanna, though he immediately had denied seeing Alanna on the day of the murder, according to police.
He “was shot in the throat on July 23 when he opened fire on police officers as they tried to arrest him, wounding one of them in the groin,” reported The Daily Mail. He survived his injuries and faces not only charges of capital murder for Alanna’s death, but attempted murder after shooting the police officer. He was indicted in Oct. 2013 and is being held in prison on $1 million bail, according to the site.
Tyler was 17 at the time of this crime, so he would not be eligible for the death penalty if found guilty, but could face life in prison with parole after 40 years, according to Star Telegram.
Our thoughts are with Alanna’s family at this difficult time.
