Ouch! Mariah didn’t bite her tongue one bit when she recalled her stint on ‘American Idol,’ saying that working with Nicki was like working with ‘Satan!’
Legendary songstress Mariah Carey opened up about her time on American Idol and her true feelings about co-judge Nicki Minaj in a shocking new interview on Nov. 12, saying, “It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan.” Read on for all the details!
Mariah Carey Hated ‘American Idol’ — ‘AI’ Was ‘Hell’ & Nicki Minaj Is ‘Satan’
Mariah, 42, wasn’t afraid to express her disdain for Nicki, 30, or her time on Idol in her interview with radio station HOT 97.
“Honestly, I hated it,” Mimi said. “Here’s what it was. I was the first person who signed on…I thought it was going to be a three-person panel. They gave me a nice…monetary moment, and I was just like, ‘Okay, Randy Jackson will be there; I’ve known him forever. He used to play bass for me. Like, this isn’t a big deal. This will be nothing.'”
“But it wasn’t that,” she added. “It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan.”
While Mariah didn’t call out Nicki specifically, it’s no secret that the two divas didn’t get along on and off the show. So we’re guessing the “Roman Holiday” rapper is the one who made Mimi’s life so miserable.
Mariah did, however, find one positive thing to say about the Idol.
“I loved the contestants,” she revealed. “And some of them were so good, and also really good people, and it was disappointing when they would, for political reasons, not put people through. And I’m like ‘I do not have to sit here and do this!”‘
Mariah Carey Releasing Her Fourteenth Album
Now that her stint on Idol is over, Mariah is focusing on her own music. Her fourteenth album, The Art Of Letting Go, is scheduled to be released by the end of 2013.
It’s no surprise that neither Mariah or Nicki will be returning to American Idol. The judges for the upcoming season will be Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. Our dawg Randy Jackson will no longer be at the judges table. Instead, he’ll be acting as a mentor for the contestants.
