‘Voice’ fans were given five minutes to tweet the name of the artist they wanted to save Nov. 12, and after all was said and tweeted, Kat Robichaud was rescued over Josh Logan and Jonny Gray. Twitter voters, you done wrong!
It’s not that Kat Robichaud, 29, is a bad performer. It’s just that The Voice‘s fifth season is so chock-full of better talent — like, say, Jonny Gray and Josh Logan — they she didn’t deserve that save.
Josh Logan: ‘Man In The Mirror’ Deserved The Save
Now, I’m not going to lie and claim that Jonny and Josh are the show’s best performers. Between Matthew Schuler and Jacquie Lee, Team Christina essentially already has this season in the bag. But Josh absolutely crushed the iconic “Man In The Mirror” on the Nov. 11 show.
He put a beautiful, soulful twist on the Michael Jackson tune that rendered me very excited to hear more from him. Kat’s rendition of Awolnation‘s “Sail” was energetic and sassy, but she was clearly outperformed by Josh, no matter what her doting mentor Cee Lo Green says.
Jonny: A ‘Bittersweet Symphony’
Admittedly, Jonny didn’t have a great night on Monday. His “Another Day In Paradise,” was decent, but the audience messed up his rhythm with their off-beat clapping. (Way to go, guys!) His past performances, like “Bittersweet Symphony” and “We Can Work It Out,” were far superior, and overall his work this season has far eclipsed Kat’s.
Still, I can understand why voters went the way they did. Kat’s “Sail” performance was definitely her best yet, and despite the consistency of her competition, the audience loves a comeback kid. I just wish we’d had a bit more time for Jonny to come back from Monday night’s slightly off-kilter performance. Monday night being Veteran’s Day, it would have been great to see the show’s only veteran kick ass and take names.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers?
