Kellie Pickler got in touch with her feminine side for her new album, ‘The Woman I Am.’ It was released on Nov. 11, and is full of 12 completely beautiful songs, some that were co-written by her husband, Kyle Jacobs. You can feel their love through both the music and the lyrics.
Kellie Pickler: ‘The Woman I Am’ Is Sweet & Sound
The first single off the album is “Someone Somewhere Tonight,” and while Kellie, 27, didn’t write it, she is the first to release it as a single, and it’s an extremely important song to her.
“It really shines the light on not only the tough things, the bad, that’s going on out there, but it also shines the light on the sweet, innocent, good things that are taking place,” she told Country Weekly in an interview. “For me, my greatest treasure is my best friend and my best friend is my husband. And every night I get to go home to a good man. I think for the people out there that have yet to discover their soul mate and that significant other, that hasn’t found that best friend yet, I want to give them hope that that is possible.”
Her title track, “The Woman I Am” isn’t a love song, but instead an autobiography-like song, that she wrote one evening with Kyle — the one who knows her best.
“Kyle and I wrote ‘The Woman I Am’ after the record was completely finished,” the singer told CMT.com. “[I was] reading through the lyrics in the artwork to make sure the spelling was right, and I was thinking, ‘Hell, my grandmother and I are so much alike. Stubborn and proud and loud with a beer in my hand.'”
The Upbeat Songs Are Fun & Relatable
No. eight on the album is titled “Bonnie and Clyde,” which is a complete girl jam. It resembles both her famous song, “Red High Heels,” and a touch of a Miranda Lambert-like sound — it’s the full package!
She wrote this song with her husband as well, and it’s all about needing someone “just like a drug,” and that he is her Clyde! So cute.
Another upbeat song that most girls can relate top on the album is “Ring For Sale,” a perfect song for a girl trying to get over a cheating ex. Even happily married girls have bad ex-boyfriend pasts — and like to jam out to an angry tune every now and then!
You’ve got to listen to the full album — you’ll see what you’re missing!
