Miley shocked the world once again when she lit up a suspicious-looking cigarette on stage during the 2013 MTV EMAs — but after the controversial moment was cut from the U.S. broadcast of the ceremony, she took to Twitter to share a shocking piece of advice.
The last thing Miley Cyrus wants is to be censored — so it’s no surprise that she wasn’t pleased when MTV cut footage of her smoking what appeared to be a marijuana joint from its U.S. airing of the 2013 MTV European Music Awards on Nov. 10. Miley, 20, had some words of wisdom for the network on Nov. 11, tweeting, “sometimes in life you just gotta decide to not give AF”. Read on for more details!
Miley Cyrus Upset Her Smoking Stunt Cut From US EMAs Broadcast
After twerking in a spacesuit with little people and then singing “Wrecking Ball” in a crotch-baring unitard, Miley really shook up the show by lighting up a suspicious-looking cigarette on stage when she accepted her EMA award for Best Video in Amsterdam on Nov. 10. Miley seemed to think MTV was uptight for censoring her “cigarette” stunt, hence her strongly worded tweet:
sometimes in life you just gotta decide to not give AF

While we all wish we could be as bold and carefree as Miley is, it’s just not in the cards for some people — or some networks. Hopefully someday America will be as open about sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll as Amsterdam and Miley seem to be!
Miley Cyrus Lights Up At The MTV EMAs
When Miley went up to accept her award, everything went normally at first — she thanked her Smilers and Terry Richardson, the director of “Wrecking Ball” — but when it comes to Miley, nothing is ever normal for long. “I couldn’t fit this award in my bag, but I did find this,” Miley said before pulling out a funny-looking cigarette. Then as the crowd roared, Miley lit it up, took one big drag, and said goodnight to the Amsterdam (hmm, what is that city famous for?) crowd.
Miley was clearly just trying to get a rise out of everyone, and even though her latest antics didn’t make the U.S. version of the EMAs, the shocking story still made its way across the pond!
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Should MTV have censored Miley’s smoking? Let us know!
