The hills are alive! (No, not Lauren Conrad’s ‘Hills.’) The first official teaser for Carrie Underwood’s ‘The Sound of Music’ aired Nov. 7, and it looks like the cast is having a ball.
Everyone loves some classic holiday cheer, and this year, NBC is doing something very different with its old-school live production of The Sound of Music. With Carrie Underwood, 30, playing Maria and True Blood‘s sexy vamp Stephen Moyer taking on the role of Captain Von Trapp, it’s sure to be quite the spectacle.
Carrie Underwood: ‘It’s Going To Be a Lot of Fun’
The newly released teaser clip shows the very talented cast, which also includes former Smash star Christian Borle and Broadway legend Laura Benanti, signing their hearts out as they prepare for the 3-hour live event.
“Nobody does stuff like this,” says Carrie, who obviously sounds amazing as she croons the show’s classic hits. “The talent is off the charts.”
Obviously they can’t show us any real footage since the show will be live, but the video does give us a glimpse of rehearsal life. “It feels so good,” Carrie says with a smile. “We’re doing it live, in front of the entire universe, so it’s going to be a lot of fun.”
Should You Watch?
Here’s the thing — no one knows! This could be a smash success (unlike the actual Smash) or a giant train wreck, but either way it will definitely be one of the must-see telecasts of the 2013 holiday season.
The Sound of Music airs Thursday, Dec. 5 at 8PM on NBC. Will you be tuning in, HollywoodLifers?
