The brave kidnapping survivor spoke out about how she helped saved the life of the child born of another one of Ariel Castro’s captives in a new interview with Dr. Phil on Nov. 6.
Michelle Knight revealed in a new interview with Dr. Phil that her captor Ariel Castro forced her to help deliver another captive, Amanda Berry‘s, baby — and threatened her life when the baby experienced birth complications.
Michelle Knight Delivered Amanda Berry’s Baby
Michelle spoke out to explain how she was called upon to help Amanda deliver her baby in 2006.
After police rescued Amanda, Michelle, and Gina DeJesus from captivity, they found that Amanda’s child with her captor had been delivered by one of the other captives inside the home — but Michelle spoke out about exactly what happened during that scary experience.
Michelle explained to Dr. Phil that when the baby came out, the little girl was unable to breathe. She recalled that Castro threatened to kill her if Amanda’s baby didn’t survive. Michelle was able to perform CPR on the baby to help her breathe — saving both of their lives.
Michelle told Dr. Phil that Castro treated Amanda “totally different,” from her and Gina, which she believes may have caused Amanda to view “the situation in a different way.”
Michelle Knight Opens Up About Suffering Five Forced Miscarriages
The delivery was terrifying for Michelle, who had no experience with childbirth. It was also gut-wrenching because Michelle herself miscarried five times during her captivity. She said that Castro would starve her, beat her and even jump on her stomach — causing the termination of several pregnancies.
