The baby that almost was Bella Swan and Edward Cullen’s daughter, Renesmee, was absolutely terrifying. Watch a new video of the scary doll that spooked out the ‘Twilight’ cast so much, she didn’t make the final film!
Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart nearly worked with a true “Chuckesmee!” An animatronic child was made to play Bella Swan and Edward Cullen‘s baby daughter, Renesmee, in Breaking Dawn — but she was even spooky by vampire standards! Nikki Reed revealed her scenes with the puppet baby in a featurette part of the Twilight Forever: The Complete Saga box set DVD — and we’re thankful that the eerie Renesmee wasn’t part of the final product!
‘Twilight’ Baby Doll Video Will Creep You Out
The whole cast of Twilight was (understandably) creeped out by the would-be Renesmee. “I understand the theory behind it, to have this creature that does all the hand movements and stuff,” Nikki said of her experience. “I’m holding a 60-pound mechanical doll and me and the doll have to move our bodies at the same time. It’s really difficult for me.”
Renesmee Doll Was Too Terrifying For ‘Twilight’
Even the film’s producer Wyck Godfrey was freaked out by the baby, calling it “one of the most grotesque animatronic babies ever to not be seen on film,” in a special video for the Twilight Forever: The Complete Saga box set DVD. Logically, “you’re trying to create something that’s otherworldly with Renesmee, that is kind of preternaturally intelligent, yet still look like a baby. But actually look like a little bit more mature baby.” The end result was pretty terrifying, though! Good thing the filmmaking team decided to go with CGI for the baby!
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think the Renesmee doll was cute or creepy? Do you wish she was in the film?
