It’s been a solid few months for Christina Aguilera. Between her eye-popping, healthy weight loss and her return to ‘The Voice,’ she’s been sitting mighty pretty on that ruby red swivel chair. She was (again) given a chance to show contestants how it’s done Nov. 5, via a haunting duet with up-and-coming band A Great Big World.
It may be all about glitz, glamour, and insane pyrotechnics over on The X Factor, but The Voice has always been about one thing (do we need to say what it is?). During the Nov. 5 live episode Christina Aguilera, 32, proved yet again why she deserves to be a coach on this show — her duet with the New York duo A Great Big World was mesmerizing.
Christina’s Sultry “Say Something” Performance
Christina hit the stage with A Great Big World — whose song “This Is The New Year” was featured on Glee — for a toned-down version of their latest single “Say Something.” With nothing but a simple piano and violin accompaniment backing them, Christina and AGBW reminded us that all you need is a beautiful voice and the ability to connect with an audience to really bring a house down. Giant teddy bears and twerking certainly don’t hurt, but they’re not always necessary, you know?
The Perfect Mentor
Given Christina’s natural talent and her current “Comeback Kid” status, it’s really no surprise that her contestants are killing it this year. Between Matthew Schuler (who sang Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball”) and Jacquie Lee (“I Put A Spell On You”), she’s bound to have a winner on her roster. Does Christina’s new look, improved attitude, and solid line-up of great performances have something to do with her team’s total domination? We’re not sure, but we’ll definitely be tuning in to more Voice to find out.
What do you think, HollywoodLifers? Does Christina’s performance give you the chills?
