Selena has been estranged from her ex-beau Justin for quite some time, but the release of his new single “Bad Day” and Selena’s recent tell-all with Teen Vogue has put the duo back in the spotlight. But do Selena’s most recent comments shoot down any hopes for a Jelena reunion?
Heartbreak is a difficult thing to navigate for anyone, but when you’re Selena Gomez, 21, it can’t help to be constantly bombarded by news of your ex and tricky dating questions from reporters. After a weekend in which Justin Bieber, 19, was spotted partying in a brothel in Brazil on Nov. 1, Selena’s decidedly more innocent Teen Vogue story reasserted the fact that Selena is just not ready for her ex’s high-flying lifestyle.
Selena Gomez On Justin Bieber: I’m Not His Type
Unlike the ladies Justin met in the Brazilian brothel, Selena isn’t down for a one-night type of thing. So even though her breakup with Justin was tough, it sounds like she might be ready to put the past behind her.
“You fall in love and it completely consumes you,” she said. “So a part of you is broken when that’s gone. And part of you wants to have that rebellious feeling where you’re just like, forget it — I can do anything I want. I’ve tried it, and I’ve never been that girl. I’m always going to be the girl you want to take home to your parents, not for the night.”
There’s nothing wrong with that, but it is clear that Selena and Justin may live life at different speeds.
Selena Gomez Moving On
Selena’s high-profile breakup with Justin was definitely a low-point for the Spring Breakers star, but it seems to have paved the way for a new and improved Selena 2.0. The starlet claims that, even though she might get burned, she’s ready to move on and welcome some new people into her life.
“My attention span is all over the place, and I over-think things. I’m an insomniac,” Selena continued. “Dancing allows me to go away and not have to think of what I’m doing next. That is the opportunity for me to really escape. I like to say I have a good sense of judgment, but I know that not everybody does. The older I’ve gotten, the more I’ve learned that I have to open myself up to all opportunities. Maybe I’ll get burned and not meet the right people, but I won’t know until I do it.”
