So terrible! A 3-year-old girl died after she sustained a fractured skull and brain trauma when the daycare worker looking after her allegedly threw her to the ground when the girl didn’t want to take off her coat.
Autumn Elgersma, 3, died on Oct. 31 from head injuries she sustained after her daycare provider, Rochelle Lynn Sapp, 33, threw her to the floor. The woman, who runs a daycare center out of her Orange City, Iowa, admitted to police that she forcefully threw the child to the ground when the little girl did not take off her coat when asked.

Sapp reportedly called Autumn’s parents to say that the little girl fell down the stairs on the morning of Oct. 29. Autumn’s mother took her to a local hospital, but she was later airlifted to Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
“According to Orange City Police Chief Jim Pottebaum, Rochelle Sapp later admitted that she threw the girl to the floor after she refused to take off her coat,” reported KTIV.
Autumn died from her head injuries after spending two days in the hospital.
Sapp was originally charged with Willful Injury and Child Endangerment Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, charges which were elevated after Autumn passed away, reported KTIV.
