During a hilarious (albeit controversial) hosting appearance on the Nov. 2 episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’, host Kerry starred in a clip that subtly mocked Chris’ recent troubles. Is the beloved, pregnant ‘Scandal’ star immune to the online wrath of Team Breezy?
Between Scandal, SNL, and her recently reported pregnancy, Kerry Washington, 36, is having a pretty great year. On the other end of that spectrum is Chris Brown, 24, who is currently in an undisclosed rehab for anger issues. And while SNL has never been shy about poking fun at embattled stars (ask Lindsay Lohan, Justin Bieber, Britney Spears, or even late ’90s Robert Downey Jr.), Chris’ Internet-vocal fan base may not be too happy about the skit that briefly poked fun at his latest brush with the law.
SNL’s Chris Brown Joke
Of course, one could argue that SNL went relatively easy on Chris, in a line that wasn’t even delivered by Kerry — SNL star Vanessa Bayer had that particular honor. “We’ve raised over $400 dollars to be split between the PTA and the winner of the student’s choice charity, ‘Bail for Chris Brown'” Bayer’s frumpy, high school administrator character said. This “student’s choice charity” was not mentioned throughout the rest of the skit, a misfire that featured Washington’s character getting repeatedly tossed in a dunk tank by her students.
Chris Brown Gets Dissed: Was it Wrong?
While Chris’ struggles with anger management are no laughing matter, SNL has always managed to turn pretty much anything into at least a chuckling matter. Also, since Kerry herself didn’t deliver the line, we hope that Team Breezy will forgive this particularly egregious crime and allow Ms. Olivia Pope to continue to do her thing.
But what do you think, HollywoodLifers? Was the joke funny, or even appropriate?
