The fans have spoken! Eminem was their choice for Artist of the Year at the first ever YouTube Music Awards, held in NYC on Nov. 3.
Eminem, 41, really is back and better than ever! The “Rap God” had some pretty stiff competition for the Artist of the Year award — he was up against talented fellow artists Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Nicki Minaj, Katy Perry, One Direction, Psy, Epic Rap Battles of History, and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis — but he blew away all of his rivals to take home the YouTube trophy, a red-and-white click icon. Eminem Wins Artist Of The Year & Performs At YouTube Music Awards
The first YouTube Awards, live streamed worldwide, were nothing if not unique, and they honored the Artist of the Year based on who was the most watched, shared, liked, and subscribed-to artist on Youtube. More than 16 million people voted, and Eminem nabbed the prize.
Unfortunately, he was not able to accept the award — but not because he wasn’t there. Em was busy backstage preparing for his live performance of “Rap God,” which turned out to be awesome.
Congratulations to Eminem!
Eminem’s New Album Leaks
We’re glad to see the Detroit native back on the scene. Eminem is never afraid to hold back, and his new upcoming album is full of the Slim Shady swagger that his fans know and love.
And Eminem followers were treated to an early listen to the rapper’s much-anticipated The Marshall Mathers LP 2, the follow-up to his 2000 album The Marshall Mathers LP, when it leaked six days ahead of its release. With its very addictive beats and rock-influenced sounds, fans said it reminded them of Eminem’s earlier, original sounds.
We love seeing him dominating the rap game again, and his performance and win at the YouTube Awards are clearly his way of showing that he’s ready to rock again!
