LAX Airport Shooting — TSA Employee & Gunman Dead, Multiple Injured
One TSA employee and the gunman are dead and multiple people are injured after a man fired shots at Los Angeles International Airport on Nov. 1 right before a security checkpoint. An unidentified “white, clean cut male” carried a high-powered rifle into LAX, and began firing shots, killing a TSA employee, and injuring at least two other people. The suspect was shot and killed by police.
Terminals two and three were evacuated at Los Angeles International Airport after the shots were fired. The Los Angeles Fire Department has called the incident as a “multi-patient incident,” according to CNN.
The shooting began at 9:30 AM PST/12:30 PM EST, LAX spokeswoman Nancy Suey Castles said, and the airport is reportedly under ground stop, meaning that no planes can take off at this time.
“I heard a popping sound, and everybody was diving for cover,” passenger Robert Perez told the KCAL/CBS of the incident, which woke him up from a nap. “The TSA said there was a shooting in the terminal and evacuate the building. Everybody started to panic.”
He also added that passengers were boarded onto a bus and taken to a smaller terminal.
Many photos have surfaced on Twitter of officers swarming the airport, as well as law enforcements being treated for injuries — one even had a bloody hand.
