Plus, Carrie gets in Samantha Jones’ face — yes, we finally meet the one and only Samantha, and she’s quite the shock for Walt and Carrie.
While Walt (Brendan Dooling) and Carrie (AnnaSophia Robb) were planning an exciting night out in the big city on the Oct. 25 episode of The Carrie Diaries, their plans get turned completely around when an unexpected guest shows up.
After the devastating ending to season one, it’s so nice to see Carrie back to her bubbly self in the premiere. She and Walt had an amazing summer together, and she’s worked hard to put Sebastian (Austin Butler) and Maggie (Katie Findlay)’s hookup in the back of her mind.
So they decided on a night out and about with Donna (Chloe Bridges)– yes they’re all magically friends now — but when she showed up at the door with Sebastian, Carrie immediately decided she wasn’t up for that, or for a talk with Sebastian. She ditched them, claimed she had plans for a night out using her “I work at Interview” card — and by card I mean physical fax, since it is the ’80s.
We realized quickly that Carrie has only lived in NY for a few months. Outside the club, she set her purse, which used to be her mother’s, down on the street and it got stolen — hopefully by someone who was also named Carrie since the name was written on the purse in nail polish. Completely depressed, she ran (in heels) to meet her friends at the bar where Donna’s cousin could get apparently anyone in.
Carrie & Samantha Finally Come Face To Face
Meanwhile, Sebastian and Walt awkwardly sipped beers while Donna complained about how lame the place was, proceeding to talk them into going to crash Carrie’s party. Sebastian was weary, but was convinced after being outnumbered, and all three left.
Naturally, Carrie arrived, budged the line and demanded to the woman at the door to be let in to see her friends. She threatened to call “Sam Jones,” assuming that dropping Donna’s cousin’s name would be a ticket in.
However, we quickly learn that there, in the flesh in blood, is THE Samantha Jones. (Let’s take a moment to admire the complete perfect casting there, too. I thought I was looking at Kim Cattrall‘s daughter.) However, after Carrie apologized and let her know she was looking for Donna, the spark was there between the two — one that we knew would last a lifetime. Samantha even helped “Bambi” break in to her own apartment. You know, since she had lost her keys and all.
After a slight bonding session, Samantha tried to convince Carrie to go out to find a new guy, to get over Sebastian. But after some thinking, Carrie realized she really is still in love with Sebastian — and meeting someone new isn’t going to change it.
Mouse Actually Doesn’t Hate Maggie
Back in Castlebury, Mouse (Ellen Wong) and boyfriend, West (R.J. Thomas) celebrate the Fourth of July but spend the whole evening trying to avoid Maggie.
After bickering and ending up in a pool, Mouse comes face to face with Maggie, who revealed that she has no friends now and the only reason she got the job at the country club was to make money because she can’t afford college.
Luckily though, she does still have Mouse. She offered to help Maggie find money for college and reassured her that she doesn’t hate her. Aww, now they just need Carrie and Walt back!
At the Bradshaw home, Dorritt (Stefania Owen) continued to try and hide her relationship with Miller (Evan Crooks) from her father — however, Carrie, of course, spilled the beans. Miller took it upon himself to meet Mr. Bradshaw, (Matt Letscher) and it was absolutely adorable — they even agreed that Dorritt looked better without makeup. However, she still ended the episode by going back to all-black-everything, just to spite her father — so Dorritt.
Walt & Sebastian Clear The Air
While Mr. Bradshaw and Miller became BFFs, Walt and Sebastian also created a closer bond. The guys spent the night trying to find Carrie after heading to the club and hearing she’s not there (of course, Donna went inside).
So naturally, they bonded and Walt asked Sebastian how he could tell that the was gay. Sebastian told him he just knew and reassured him he was okay with it. We’re all about that friendship and only hope it continues throughout!
By the time Sebastian and Walt get back to the apartment, Carrie is asleep on the couch, and naturally, Sebastian — in all his charm — covered her up. Aw!
The episode ended with Walt and Carrie hanging out in the kitchen of their gorgeous apartment having morning coffee, when an overnight luggage bag came flying in the window, followed by Samantha who asked if she could crash with them for a few nights.
Oh, we can only imagine what’s to come from this.
