The ‘Vampire Diaries’ hunk reportedly won full custody of his 2-year-old daughter after petitioning a Georgia court for full custodial rights when the girl’s mother landed in federal prison.
Zach Roerig Custody — ‘Vampire Diaries’ Star Wins Sole Custody Of Daughter
Zach, 28, filed for sole custody of his daughter in July 2013, and he won! Sole custody is very unusual for a parent to earn because it means that all physical and legal custody rights are assigned to one of the child’s parents.
The custody battle was sparked when mother of Zach’s child, a woman named Alanna Turner, was sentenced to federal prison, according to TMZ. Court documents revealed that Alanna had been arrested three times, and landed in prison after pleading guilty to “several charges,” according to The Daily Mail.
Zach had not publicly spoken about his daughter before this custody battle became public.
HollywoodLife.com reached out to Zach’s rep and we are awaiting comment.
Zach Roerig’s Child Support Requests
In addition for petitioning for full custody of his daughter, Zach was originally asking that his little girl’s mother contribute child support, reported TMZ. Those requests were reportedly dropped.
Child support is seen by courts as an obligation and right to the child — not a matter of if the parents needs the money or not.
According to court documents, Zach will now be able to make all of the decisions regarding his daughter’s future, according to The Daily Mail.
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Are you happy that Zach won full custody of his daughter?
