Sorry RPatz fans! Although many want to see him take on the role of Christian in the movie adaptation of ’50 Shades of Grey,’ HollywoodLife.com has learned exclusively that Rob definitely doesn’t want to be in the Red Room of Pain anytime soon.
Robert Pattinson could absolutely play a compelling Christian Grey. However, he has multiple reasons why he’s not going to take on the role that Charlie Hunnam dropped out of– and unfortunately he cannot be persuaded!
Robert Pattinson Doesn’t Want To Do ’50 Shades Of Grey’
Rob, 27, is in high demand for the S&M role, but because of he’s already starred in such an epic series, we’ve learned that it’s definitely not going to happen.
On VH1’s The Gossip Table, they approached the reports and explained that Rob doesn’t want the role because he’s trying to get away from the big series he’s already starred in — ie. a little franchise called Twilight.
“Rob is not going to change his mind for doing the film, he doesn’t want to commit to multiple films and another franchise,” a source close to the Twilight star told HollywoodLIfe.com exclusively. “He wants his career to go in a completely different route. Add that to the fact that he is not the number one pick from the producers, its just not happening.”
It’s a little surprising to us that Rob wasn’t the first pick, since we know he was who author E.L. James wanted for the role. However, the producers first pick, Charlie, didn’t want to be the next RPatz.
Why Charlie Dropped Out Of ’50 Shades’ Franchise
“He dropped out of the project because he didn’t want to be typecast. He didn’t want the Robert Pattinson-esque attention that would come along with taking on this role,” a source told People.
We’re not sure that the fame RPatz got was really a bad thing, but we do understand that maybe Charlie’s not ready for that kind of attention.
“Charlie got cold feet,” the source told us. “He wanted to get out of the movie because he was feeling like it would be his version of Showgirls and he didn’t want to be remembered for that.”
Hey now, what’s wrong with Showgirls?!
So HollywoodLifers, are you surprised that Rob doesn’t want to take on the role of Christian Grey? Let us know!
