Angelica, nicknamed ‘Baby Hope,’ was found dead and mangled in 1991 by a NYC highway. 22 years later, Baby Hope’s cousin, Conrado, confessed to smothering and sexually assaulting her before he killed her. Read on for more shocking details.
What a tragic case! Even though Conrado Juarez, 52, was arrested for killing his four-year-old cousin over two decades ago, the grim details of the case are still so unsettling. Can you believe this, HollywoodLifers?
Conrado Juarez Confessed To Killing Angelica Castillo
The “Baby Hope” case was a very interesting one — because the body of Angelica Castillo wasn’t identified until now.
Police arrested Conrado on Oct. 12, after new DNA in the “Baby Hope” case emerged, because Angelica was identified as the slain girl in the cooler.
Anjelica’s dead, decomposed body was found on July 23, 1991, near a Manhattan highway. Her body was unidentifiable, with no clues as to what happened, or who the suspect was. The case was huge at the time, with a funeral held for “Baby Hope” in 1993, still known as an anonymous girl.
However, thanks to new DNA testing from a tip linked to Angelica’s mother, justice was served. Conrado, a dishwasher in Manhattan, was arrested near the restaurant he worked at. He was “expressionless,” according to CNN. Conrado admitted to the crime shortly after his arrest.
What happened on that day in 1991 when Conrado killed Angelica?
Angelica Castillo Was Sexually Assaulted By Cousin Conrado Juarez
Angelica was sadly never even reported as missing. But “Baby Hope” got tons of attention, because she was found by construction workers in a dirty cooler on the highway.
Her disfigured body was stuffed in a garbage bag underneath soda cans, after being sexually assaulted and smothered earlier that day.
Angelica’s body was so deformed after Conrado’s attack that she was virtually unidentifiable to anyone.
Conrado, 30 at the time of the murder, had seen Angelica on the day he killed her at a family member’s apartment in Queens. He brutally raped and killed her.
Conrado’s sister, Balvena Juarez Ramirez, gruesomely helped in the murder. She got the cooler ready while he placed Angelica inside it. They went to Manhattan together in a cab, and abandoned the cooler near the Henry Hudson Parkway.
Balvena has since passed away. Conrado has been formally charged with murder.
How sad and shocking. We’re keeping Angelica’s family in our thoughts.
