So sad! The Minnesota Vikings running back’s son passed away at a Sioux Falls, South Dakota hospital on Oct. 11 having been on life support, in critical condition, since the night of Oct. 9.
Adrian Peterson‘s 2-year-old son passed away on Oct. 11 after sustaining horrific head injuries on Oct. 9 when he was brutally beaten allegedly by the man reported to be his mother’s boyfriend, Joseph Robert Patterson.
Adrian Peterson’s Son Died — 2-Year-Old Dies From Beating By Mom’s Boyfriend
Adrian’s son died on Oct. 11 from his injuries.
The Sioux Falls Police Department released an official statement at 4 p.m. local time on Oct. 11 reading:
This afternoon the police department learned the 2-year-old boy died from injuries sustained during the aggravated assault on Wednesday. At this time, the victim’s name is being withheld out of respect for the family and to give them time to make notification. His name will be released early next week. The Lincoln County State’s Attorney’s Office will be reviewing police reports for consideration of additional charges. Joseph Robert Patterson has made his first court appearance and is being held on a $750,000 cash bond.
“The mother of the child has decided to donate the child’s organs to people in need,” reported TMZ. The site reports that the toddler was in critical condition and on life support since around 5:30 p.m on Oct. 10 and the family made the heartbreaking decision to take him off of life support.
Adrian Peterson’s 2-Year-Old Son Beaten In Attack
“Emergency responders responded to a call at about 5:45 PM on Wednesday [Oct. 9]. The initial call was made for medical attention, the caller said that a 2-year-old was choking. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the child unresponsive,” Sioux Falls, South Dakota police told HollywoodLife.com. “Medical staff found that the injuries were not consistent with choking, but rather with head injuries, consistent with abuse.”
Joseph Robert Patterson, 27, was arrested on two counts: aggravated battery of an infant and aggravated assault. He was fomally charged in his first court appearance on Oct. 11. South Dakota state attorney Tom Wollman has told reporters that charges will be added to reflect that this is now a homicide case. The man is reportedly dating the boy’s mother.
