We think it’s safe to say Miley Cyrus, 20, had a great day! After impressing critics with her new album, Miley stopped by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to talk about her recent SNL appearance, her Rolling Stone tattoo (it’s almost gone) and of course, twerking. And Jimmy made our musical dreams come true once again by recording an a cappella version of “We Can’t Stop” with Miley. Read on for more details!
Jimmy must have known the audience would be antsy for Miley because he teased her appearance halfway through the show with a totally awesome video of them singing an a capella version of “We Can’t Stop,” with some help from house band The Roots.
The video showed the gang divided into Brady Bunch-style squares, with Miley front and center, of course. Their fresh take on her first single off of Bangerz made us fall in love with the hot summer hit all over again! Plus, it proved once again that Miley is more than just a nearly naked body — she’s got a lot of talent! Jimmy said she totally nailed the video in one take, which doesn’t surprise us one bit.
Jimmy joked that with Miley guest starring, the wardrobe department had the night off. Sure enough, Miley strolled onstage wearing nothing but an oversized white collared top à la Tom Cruise in Risky Business. When she complained that it was too cold in the studio, Jimmy pointed out the obvious — that you have to wear clothes when you go out. But that’s just not Miley’s style, so instead she picked up a polka dot blanket from her mom, Tish Cyrus, during the commercial break!
Miley talked a little bit about her recent SNL performance on Oct. 5, saying she was grateful for the “opportunity to show people that I don’t just twerk and lick stuff.” Even though she joked on SNL that her alter ego Hannah Montana was dead, Miley confessed that she actually learned a lot about improv from her early days on the Disney show.
SNL alum Jimmy must have felt left out all the fun, because he and Miley teamed up for a hilariously weird skit of the two of them sporting mannequin arms. Miley showed off her comedic chops once again in the “Real People, Fake Arms” sketch about a Canadian soap opera called Jacob’s Patience, drawing laughs from the crowd as she played the owner of a salon appropriately named Smiley’s.
We can’t believe how talented and versatile Miley is! What did YOU think of Miley’s appearance on Fallon? Do you love their new rendition of “We Can’t Stop”? Let us know!
