Hannah recounted shocking details of her Aug. 3 kidnapping in a new ‘Today’ show interview that will air on Oct. 10. The teen revealed that her kidnapper bound her feet with zip-ties and forced her to play Russian roulette with a gun.
Hannah Anderson, 16, was kidnapped by her family friend James DiMaggio on Aug. 3. The man allegedly murdered Hannah’s mother Christina Anderson and 8-year-old brother Ethan Anderson before setting the home they were in on fire and kidnapping Hannah. The kidnapping survivor revealed that her captor tied her up and told her his kidnapping plans before abducting her.
Hannah Anderson: Kidnapper Forced Me To Play Russian Roulette
Hannah revealed that her kidnapper forced her to play Russian roulette — a potentially lethal game of chance — with his gun.
“When it was my turn, I started crying and was freaking out,” Hannah told Savannah Guthrie on Today. “And he said, ‘Do you want to play?’ And I said, ‘No.’ And I started crying and then he’s, like, ‘Okay.’ And he stopped.”
Hannah Anderson’s Kidnapper Tied Her Up Before Abduction
Hannah explains that she didn’t know her mother and 8-year-old brother Ethan had been murdered. She said:
He told me that my mom was in the garage and that Ethan was upstairs and that … they were alive.
She explained that DiMaggio gave her a breakdown of his plans for kidnapping her:
[He] handcuffed me and zip-tied my feet and then sat me down on the couch and told me what his plan was. … That he was going to kidnap me and take me to Idaho, where my intention was just to carry his backpacks to the river. And that he was gonna live there. And then he’d get me home afterwards.
Hannah was rescued by FBI agents who shot and killed DiMaggio on Aug. 10. She maintained during her new interview that her kidnapper “got what he deserved,” a statement she previously made on her social media accounts.
