‘Duck Dynasty’ became an overnight sensation that fans can’t get enough of when it aired in March 2012. However, it’s reportedly causing quite the rift in the family and resulting in some serious tension.
The instant celebrity status of the cast of Duck Dynasty may sound like a dream come true for some of the Robertson family — but not all of them. Phil Robertson, the creator of the Duck Commander Duck Call could actually be leaving the hit show, according to a new report!
‘Duck Dynasty’: The Family Is Divided
His mother, Kay Robertson, 62, told the mag that he’s definitely the most outgoing one.
“Willie is the leader of the pact,” she said. Brothers Jase, 44, and Jep, 35, are actually more of the silent type and they keep to themselves. So much so that it’s causing tension in the family — they don’t like the spotlight on them.
“Jep doesn’t like the fame,” Kay said. “Jase is definitely more of the quiet one,” his wife, Jessica added in.
I used to see [Jep] park and come inside for his coffee, but now he uses the drive-thru so he won’t have to deal with people coming up to him,” a local in West Monroe, La. told the mag.
Willie, wife Korie and 16-year-old daughter, Sadie are all really embracing the new fame, but they may be causing the others to become discouraged because of their excitement.
“If Willie keeps pushing and doesn’t listen when his brothers say they’ve had enough, it will cause real problems,” an insider said. “If they feel like he’s forcing them, it will destroy the strong relationship they have.”
Will Phil Leave The Show?
And family is what the Robertsons are all about, Kay explained, adding that even after the four seasons, “I never forget where I came from.”
Her husband Phil, 67, may be ready to throw in the towel, though. Allegedly, A&E added “bleeps” over cursing that wasn’t there, which upset him immensely.
“Phil has already admitted he wants out of the show,” a source told the magazine. “I think this could be his last year. I am sure they won’t let him leave easily, but I think it has gotten to be too much for him.”
Kay, the proud mother, isn’t leaving the “fun time together” the family has on the show, she said. “I love it!”
So, HollywoodLifers — Do you think Phil will leave the show?
