Plus, just how bad are things going to get between Marcel and the Original family? (Spoiler alert: We’re in for a ‘bumpy’ ride.)
The battle for New Orleans rages on Oct. 8, as The Originals switches to its new night and time, and Charles Michael Davis tells HollywoodLife.com that tensions will grow between Marcel and his former mentor Klaus (Joseph Morgan). We’ll see a young Marcel, via flashbacks, which will reveal “more of Marcel’s relationship with Klaus and the other Originals.”

>> This might be a weird question, but how aware is Marcel that Klaus is trying to overthrow him?
You’ll see on the second episode that some time has passed [since the pilot.] In the beginning, they were working out their bumpy history. It’s just like going back home for a family vacation. They say by the third day, your family starts to treat you like they used to treat you. I think they’ve worked over that third day, so they’ve moved on and have resolved some of their old issues from the past. So it’s pretty obvious [to us], but I think [Marcel] let his guard down a little bit.
>> You had my favorite moment from the pilot, when Marcel screamed, ‘I’m the king!’ How much of that Marcel will we see moving forward?
A lot of people are saying that’s their favorite line, actually. That’s something that definitely stood out for me. I have a lot of scenes, sprinkled here and there, with that same energy.
>> Any chance we’ll get another karaoke performance from Marcel?
There’s nothing written, but I’m hoping that if I just tell you I’m doing it, then it’ll be in writing, and they’ll have to let me do it. So, possibly. I’m hoping he finds some time to do karaoke, but there is a war brewing, so that doesn’t give him much time to go back and sing his favorite song.
>> Hypothetically, what would that favorite song be? Do you have one?
Oh, yeah. It’s funny, I was just at a wedding this past weekend; I was about to leave, but my friend was like, ‘No, you can’t. You have to wait. The DJ’s playing a special song for you!’ It was Kanye West‘s ‘Gold Digger.’ Not the best song to sing at a wedding — especially when they sing ‘We prenup.’
>> Yeah, that’s actually pretty terrible.
[Laughs] Yeah, it is. But it’s still my favorite song to sing.
>> In preview pictures, we see Marcel cozying up to Cami. Any chance of a spark there?
With Cami? Definitely. She’s very intelligent and she has great chemistry, both with Marcel and Klaus. She just tells it like it is, when they’re used to people bowing down. There are definitely more scenes between Cami and Marcel to look forward to.
>> There are also pictures of Marcel with Rebekah. Does he just flirt with everybody?
[Laughs] He gets around, he definitely gets around. I guess being the self-proclaimed King of New Orleans, and the way that Marcel rolls … he gets to know everybody, and he obviously has a history with the Original family.
