The ‘Royals’ singer appears to be head-over-heels for her boyfriend who is eight years her senior. Do you think this is too big of an age difference?

Ella “Lorde” Yelich-O’Connor, 16, she taking the world by storm with her awesome new song “Royals” off her debut album Pure Heroine. But she’s also make headlines for her relationship with James Lowe, 24, who is much older than her.

Lorde Dating James Lowe — 8 Years Older Than Her

The singer is reportedly dating James and she’s constantly posting pics to her Instagram page of them together. One pic shows them brushing their teeth with the caption: “Happy Birthday James” and another of James sleeping with the caption: “James is sick.”

The look absolutely adorable together but he is a little old, do you think he’s too old for her?

Lorde’s New Single ‘Royal’ Getting Tons Of Buzz

The New Zealand singer managed to knock Miley Cyrus out of the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In the soulful song she sings: “Every song’s like gold teeth, Grey Goose, trippin’ in the bathroom. We don’t care, we’re driving Cadillacs in our dreams.”

She spoke out to Billboard about the exciting news of being number one and said: “It feels like a combination of my birthday, Christmas and washing my hair after a month of not doing so.”

The singer is currently signed to Lava Records.

We love Lorde’s music and we’re so happy for her. HollywoodLifers, sound off below and tell us if you think James and Lorde’s age difference is too much!

8 years is a big gap 17 year olds didn’t get a chance to own a house and pay all those bills yet a 25 year old is more likely to have that true experience of being an mature responsible adult her musical ability is not an excuse for the rightfulness of this age gap its wrong really

Firstly, the age of consent in New Zealand, Australia and the UK as well as others is 16 years. What they do with their sex life is their business. This isn’t the US rednecks! Also, it fascinates me how people fixate on these small age gaps yet pay no mind to the children being sold into forceful marriages around the world. Lorde is a talented artist and her and James can do what they want.

No, I don’t because she has a really high IQ (it has been stated in a few articles) … so of course she needs someone who is more mature.

Maturity

There are tons of grown women dating or hooking up with 17 and 18 Y/O’s, also Lorde could possible be real mature for her age… But she’s human just like the rest of us, and just because she’s in the spotlight makes her any less of a human being.

Now people come on i know good and well if this was your son or daughter you would be highly upset and furious with them for talking to someone 8 years older. That is like a senior in high school dating a 7th graded people have such problems with that and its the same cause most seniors are (17-18) and most 7th graders are (12-13). Most parents get mad and there son / daughter if there in a relationship like a freshmen and a senior, so some people should open there eye’s cause sometimes the age difference does matter because of the different level of matureness, but nothing can be done because there life and they like it just wanted to give some advice to parents out there.Myself is only 17 and I understand this better than most adults.

I feel like these two are compatible. I mean, look at Hayden Panettiere and her boyfriend he seems more like a father to her then a boyfriend or husband.

thats because hayden is an adult/ fully grown woman shes 24 so thats kind of reasonable…lorde is only 17 and shes still a teenager (not even the age of consent yet) while her boyfriend is a grown man so theres a difference

People in the U.S. have to understand that the age of consent in some other countries is lower than what we’re used to here – which is 18. In New Zealand, which is the country Lorde and her boyfriend is from, the age of consent is 16. Different countries, different cultures, different views.

While I firmly believe that between the ages of 17-21 you are still discovering who you are and are changing constantly (in other words, I don’t think it’s a good idea to be in a relationship of any kind during those years), if they’re happy, they’re happy. She’s young but she has a professional career going for her. And I don’t think it makes her boyfriend a “pervert” or anything for being older. If they can work it out, they can work it out. It’s none of our business.

Stuck in Ohio, I’m pretty sure that the people around you hide their kids when you’re around. You’re a creeper. Disgusting and illegal. Pervert.

You might consider it creepy (which is fair enough) but it’s not illegal. The age of consent in Ohio is 16.
