After leading police on a wild car chase and crashing outside the Capitol building on Oct. 3, a female suspect was shot and killed, according to D.C. officials.
A scary day in Washington, D.C. has come to a close after D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier revealed that the woman who crashed her black Infiniti into a gate at the White House and then sped off in direction of the U.S. Capitol was hit by gunfire and has been pronounced dead on Oct. 3.

Police could not get the woman to stop her car, so they were forced to shoot at her, CNN reports. The chase ended when the woman crashed her vehicle into one of the police cars.
Police fired more shots after the crash, and the woman was hit multiple times. It was later discovered that a one-year-old child was also in the car, and the child is now in protective custody.
Two law enforcement officers were injured in the chase. One officer was reportedly lifted out of his car by the jaws of life, but his condition is not yet known.
