Shay Mitchell’s Nails — Balmain-Inspired Green
Shay partnered up with nail guru, Stephanie Stone, to bring the hottest new nail trend to you! This look is perfect for your next fall mani and we will tell you how to get this exact look directly from Shay’s website:
Step 1: On a clean and dry manicure, paint all of your nails solid nude.
Step 2: Next using your metallic polish, start at the base of your nail on the right side, paint a diagonal line up towards the free edge of the opposite side of your nail. Repeat for the left base of your nail creating a criss-cross of lines. You will have an exposed triangle shape at the base of your nail pointing towards the tip. Leave that triangle exposed but fill in any other bare spots on your nail and then go over again with a second coat.
Step 3: Let those coats dry for a few minutes. Then take your black polish and from side wall to side wall of your nail, sweep a straight horizontal line across the tip. Also make sure to seal the free edge of your nail with the black polish.
Step 4: Next you are going to apply your gem. Take your nail glue and dab the tiniest drop on to your nail above the nude triangle in your section of metallic polish. Lightly dip your dotting tool into the top coat to make it slightly sticky. Place your sticky dotting tool onto the top of one of your gems and then place the gem onto your drop of glue to secure it onto your nail. Repeat for all nails and wait for the glue to dry.
Step 5: Finally, use a super thick top coat for extra protection of locking your gem into place and to seal in all your colors! Be sure to coat the free edge of your nails with top coat as that is an extra important step to prevent chipping. And Voila! You now have a manicure reminiscent of one of my favorite looks from Balmain at Fall NYFW.
