On the heels of the ominous The Real Housewives of New Jersey season finale, the future is uncertain for Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice, as they face major jail time — and Joe faces deportation to Italy — if they are found guilty of financial federal fraud charges. How are the Giudices coping in the months leading up to a foreboding Oct. 8 preliminary trial date?
Following the end of an ominous RHONJ season finale where the imminent future for the Giudice family is up in the air, Teresa and Joe spoke to Andy Cohen on a special WWHL episode on Sept. 29, where they solely discussed their feelings about their upcoming trial and fraud charges.
“I have anxiety and sleepless nights. I used to sleep like a baby, now I get up,” admitted Teresa. With the trial, 39 charges, a reality show to film and a family to care after, it’s no wonder she has sleepless nights now.
If convicted, is she worried about the care of her four daughters Gia, 12, Gabriella, 10, Milania, 7, and Audriana, 3?
“I’m not really thinking about that right now,” she explained to Andy. “I’m just focusing on my family, being a wife, a mom to my four beautiful daughters.”
Teresa posts normal family activities to her Twitter account all the time, such as going to soccer matches, events and having fun with friends, showing everyone she’s not letting a potential 50 years in prison with her husband get her down.
“If God forbid something should ever happen to where we would have to worry about where the kids would go, it wouldn’t be Melissa and Joe,” Joe revealed. “I would have my sister, I would have my brother…I don’t even think my kids would want to go with Melissa and Joe after all the things they say on television about their mom.”
Uh oh! Looks like the Gorgas and Giudices are on civil terms now — but not exactly warm and friendly to each other. Looks like we have to watch the upcoming RHONJ reunion to find out! But in the meantime — are the Giudices not coming to terms with the reality of their situation?
Getting indicted for 39 financial fraud charges is serious business — but when Andy asked if they think they lived beyond their means, Teresa and Joe didn’t think so.
Teresa quickly answered, “No.”
“Whatever I could afford to buy I would buy. We work hard, so what, we are allowed to make money,” Joe claimed. “It’s part of that’s what we do. I’m a business man and I make money.”
Even though they make money — they also filed for bankruptcy in 2009. Joe also is awaiting trial for a 2011 charge of obtaining a false driver’s license.
The future looks dark for the couple, but at least they are standing by each other and protecting their daughters in the meantime.
What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? Do you think that the Giudices live beyond their means? Sound off!
