The girls are planning ahead ‘into the distance': they’re thinking college, their kids’ futures, and what’s best for their young families. But exhausting baby work and daddy drama start chipping away at their plans. Find out what went down on the Sept. 30 episode.
Mackenzie Douthit decided to let her guy Josh McKee take on the rodeo once more, but he’s throwing himself into his riding and not into his family. Katie Yeager dreams of turning her online classes into a degree from a 4-year college, and she’s determined to get to her dream school even if Joey Maes won’t make the big move. If the guys aren’t helping them achieve their dreams, will they step out of the way?
Mackenzie Douthit Feels Second-Best To Josh McKee’s Rodeo Life
Mackenzie doesn’t see much of Josh since he started rodeoing again. She worries that he might even miss big milestones like Gannon‘s first birthday while he’s off riding. Mackenzie notices that the ups and downs of their relationship have them marveling at how much they love each other and then wondering why they’re even together — feelings that flip-flop daily. Mackenzie expects more enthusiasm out of Josh about his being able to ride again, and she gets upset that he is apathetic about her being at the competitions. She feels like she’s second-best to Josh’s rodeo friends, and that they are becoming more distant from each other.
Mackenzie admits that she may have given up and moved on from Josh if Gannon weren’t born. She seeks out a couples’ counselor, and acknowledges that he has some maturing to do to catch up to where she’s at — and in the mean time, she says she feels like a single mom.
On the Teen Mom 3 aftershow, Mackenzie looks back and wonders why she and Josh clashed over so many things when she admits “we just come back to each other.” She explains that he’s the kid that’s hard to communicate with and awkward, but that she’s the one that understands him.
Briana DeJesus Is Heartbroken When Her Protective Court Order Gets Dismissed
Briana DeJesus filed a court protective order against Devoin Austin, and all she can think about is her impending court date where a judge will decide Devoin’s involvement in their daughter’s life. She gets a reprieve when her sister Brittany takes her and Nova to a baby music class — but finds that even fun events are tough and exhausting with babies! When she gets back to her reality, she prepares for court by printing out lots of Devoin’s cyberbullying tweets. In court, Devoin objects to the charges against him, saying that he did not make any of the tweets she references. The court dismisses her case based on a lack of evidence, and Devoin walks out of the courthouse laughing.
Briana thinks this is indicative of Devoin’s character, if he was lying to the judge, how could she trust him not to do the same to her? Briana hoped that the court order would keep Devoin away without her having to work at it, but her mom assures her it will be an endless fight — and something that will constantly be a part of Nova’s life.
On the Teen Mom 3 aftershow, Briana says that she resents that Devoin is disrespectful, and that he assumes it’s the female’s job to take care of the kids. She admits that she could give a little more in their relationship, but that it’s not something she considers at this point with Devoin.
Alex Sekella Fights To Keep Her Daughter Away From Matt McCann
Alex Sekella is worried that Matt McCann is back on drugs, so she begins fighting for full custody of Arabella, with only supervised visits for Matt. She has kept herself distanced from Matt, not concerned with finding out what’s going on with him. She understands that he might be homeless, but recognizes that his actions have been his choices. Her grandparents convince her to reach out to Matt in a neutral way, so she texts him a picture of Arabella.
Alex gets Arabella’s name and footprint tattooed on her shoulder, a tattoo that she was planning on doing with Matt. She decided that this was a special thing to do on her own. When she sees her grandparents, they don’t understand why she could get such a big tattoo, fearing that she’ll never be a professional dancer with such a large portion of her body covered.
Meanwhile, Matt’s counselor sets him up to live at a youth home, making sure that he is clean of drugs and off the streets so that he can provide for his daughter or at least retain some custody of her. Matt is 5 hours late to his meeting with his counselor, who feels he may have relapsed. Matt says he was sick and in the hospital and tries to get out of moving into the home, saying he feels it’s a restrictive institution that he doesn’t want to be held back by.
Alex gets a phone call saying that Matt is in the hospital with a feared drug overdose when the episode ends.
On the Teen Mom 3 aftershow, Alex explains that right now she is the one feeling all of the disappointment with Matt, but she worries that one day Arabella will be the one feeling the burden of disappointment.
Katie Yeager Urges Joey Maes To Get A Job Near Her Dream School
Katie is happy that Joey gave up smoking pot for her. He stepped up in taking care of Molli more so that Katie could study for her classes at community college. Katie is glad that she’s able to take online classes, but while planning to go to a 4-year college in Salt Lake City, Katie realizes what a big move away from Joey it would be. She talks Joey into applying for coal mining jobs in Utah, but he is nervous about moving to another state and facing the unknown. Determined to get her degree, Katie uses Joey’s job offers in Utah as fuel to move her family to a new state. Katie worries that Joey doesn’t think anything she is doing is as important as her goals. She says she wants to get her social work degree no matter what — and her biggest obstacle will be Joey’s refusal to ever move to Utah.
On the Teen Mom 3 aftershow, Katie explained that Joey’s refusal to move to school with her made her feel like her needs were lesser. Sbe admits that he was worried she would be able to see a new world and what else is out there — and find someone better than him. She loses her supportive atmosphere with Joey rather than gaining new strength. Katie loves the kind of dad Joey is, but the pair is just not happy together — something Molli needs.
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Do you think the girls were held back by their guys’ objections, or fueled to push ahead?
