Yes, she is a FILIPINO-AMERICAN. She was born in the U.S. and they moved to the Philippines when she was 10. Her father IS an american and her mother IS a filipino. I don’t agree that the “United States brews the best women”. She was raised and trained with FILIPINO VALUES. When she was 18, SHE CHOSE TO BE A FILIPINO CITIZEN that is why she represented the Philippines. SHAME ON YOU MR. ANDREW GRUTTADARO FOR CLAIMING THAT. Shame on you.

Wrong! All Americans are immigrants. The only TRUE Americans are the NATIVE AMERICANS. The REAL Americans who have been almost wiped out by the immigrants from Europe. Fact: America is an IMMIGRANT NATION. Stop claiming what is NOT yours!

Megan was educated and mold in the Philippines. She was a VJ there, actress and model. She have a lot of exposure in the camera & public speaking. Ifin the Philippines. That helped her a lot in winning the crown. There were a lot of beautiful women in the pageant but I’m sure there’s something in her that stands out from the rest!

If Miss Philippines-World were here in America. She won’t be recognized or maybe even discriminated just like the Miss America with Indian descent. She moved to the Philippines when she was 10. She’s very Filipino!

I bet to disagree. Megan Young has been refined to a beautiful lady thanks to the works of Pageant knowing people in the Philippines. they trained delgates how to be a queen. She may have the nice blend but a lot of beautiful lady are dumb sorry to say . I guess the credit goes to those who trained her. But i dont have any objections with Miss Philippines being both an American and Filipino. I guess what i disagree is that US brews the best women. Thats what I don’t agree.

I don’t see any problem in Americans brew the best women but it isn’t always true. Their winners in Miss Universe are not necessarily beautiful particularly Brook Lee, Chelsi Smith and Shawn Weatherly. Americans are also brewed out of many races. Megan Young is just lets say one great blend.

Hehe If America wants to claim Megan Young also, then the better it is. More publicity for Miss Philippines as well as her Filipino and American background. I like it.

Please, let us all celebrate on her winning the crown whether she’s an American or a Filipino. She is a Filipino-American anyway for God sake. US and the Philippines have each fair share on her winning the crown, that each country can be proud of. Let us all celebrate, American or Filipino, and be proud of her just like when we Filipinos celebrate when Jessica Sanchez (for example) was winning the American Idol or being proud to be American or Filipino, when Bruno Mars, says he’s haft American, haft Filipino. That’s beauty with a purpose. World peace!!!

So the United States is a coffeemaker? In that case, if the United States is the best brewer of women, can we likewise & justifiably claim the Philippines as the best creamer of them all, perfectly blending east & west? Our Megan Young was a “dark coffee” of a 10-year old American girl alright when she first adopted her mother’s homeland, but then she grew up in our “unlikely society” into a fully blended “brown coffee” of a Filipina woman perfectly “creamed” just right, half & half, ready to conquer the world.

True. Stop claiming her for America…. She may have taken some of her dad’s genes (height in particular) but she has 80% of her mom’s features.

I am a Filipino and I don’t see anything wrong when Americans are happy for Meagan Young winning the Miss World Pageant. It is just like us Filipinos being proud of American artists who have Filipino blood in them.

For the record, I don’t agree that “United States brews the best women”. Meagan is more Filipina than American and I believe she has more Filipino values in her. She lives & studied in the Philippines since she was 10 years old. She is surrounded with Filipino relatives and friends which contributed to her values and made her more Filipina by heart. Of course, she has an American dad which makes her American.

She is a Filipino-American and I believe that she is happy that she made both Philippines and USA proud. We want everyone to be happy, so stop debating. Lets just share this victory.

USA brews the best women???!Just be careful with what you are saying. Oh yes may be…awards in the “The Best in Twerking”, “The Best Whore”,”The Best Playboy Model”, ” The Most Plastic Surgeries”, ” The Best Women Addict”. Just to name a few. Megan was born in the USA but raised, educated ans trained in the Philippines! It’s like she was born from a bad mother and raised and honed to what she is now by a good mother so don’t take the credits. She never considers you as her “kababayans” and that you don’t even know man!Kababayan which she mentioned in her speech means countryman and that was not about you but Filipinos. You better shut up now coz you didn’t have any doings on her winning!!!

America didn’t even know who she was or care about her before she won. And if she didn’t win, you think America would come up with that ”oh we brew the best women in the world” statement. pssshh

This is ridiculous! I understand that she’s us born but so what? Did USA train her to win miss world? Did you even give a damn about her before she won? No!

And for you to claim she’s also mIss USA when you guys have your own candidate that carries The USA flag, did you even care about her??!

She moved to philippines when she was 10. Being half Filipina and for living half of her life in the philippines, does that make her American? Tell me, I need am intelligent discourse here otherwise it looks like your just grabbing credit where you didn’t do anything for her to win the competition!

USA brews the best women in the world? Do you even know what you’re talkin about? Like I said, what did you do to make her win? You trained her? Damn you didn’t even know anything about her!

Gees, such a bunch loser, you have your own contestant and does not give a sh*t about her but here you are flaunting Megan Young as if you made her win! Pathetic piece of news.

Start learning journalism instead of writing credit-grabbing USA-is-the-best article

America brews the best women? Please, she may have been born and raised in the US but I beg to disagree. She’s very filipina in her movement, the walk she talks, and carries herself. She’s more filipina than american, and I know this because I have worked with her in the past. She was trained, dressed, and styled by filipinos….not americans. Stop taking credibility where it isn’t due tsk

I to tally agree that America brews some of the best women in the world. China, India, the Philippines, South America also do, no doubt. These places have many beauty contest winners and runners up in their list and majority of them are born in their homeland.
