A 4-year-old boy accidentally shot his 6-year-old friend in the head while playing with his dad — Anthony Senatore’s — gun on Apr. 8. The father was indicted on charges of child endangerment on Sept. 26 for making guns easily accessible to his three young children.
Anthony Senatore was indicted by a New Jersey court on Sept. 26 following a tragic accident where his son, 4, shot his 6-year-old neighbor Brandon Holt while playing with Senatore’s rifle on Apr. 8. Senatore was charged with endangering the welfare of a child.
Anthony Senatore Indicted — 4-Year-Old Son Shoots Brandon Holt
Brandon was shot in the head by his 4-year-old neighbor while he was outside playing. The 4-year-old boy got the rifle from his parents’ bedroom. Brandon was rushed to the hospital following the shooting, but died the next day.
The 4-year-old’s father, Anthony Senatore, 33, was indicted on Sept. 26. The Star-Ledger’s NJ.com reports:
The boy’s father was arrested the following month [May], charged with endangering the welfare of a minor. The indictment brought no new charges. Senatore faces five counts of second-degree child endangerment, one count of third-degree child endangerment and a disorderly persons offense.
The jury returned the indictment.
The charges allege that “in addition to the loaded .22 caliber rifle used to fire the fatal shot, a Stevens 12-gauge shotgun, two Harrington & Richardson shotguns and a Remington 12-gauge shotgun were all found unsecured, in close proximity to ammunition and accessible to Senatore’s children, ages 12, 8, and 4,” reports NJ.com.
Brandon Holt’s Family Reacts To Indictment
Kevin L. Parsons, an attorney representing the Holt family, told The Star-Ledger that the little boy’s family is happy the case is moving forward, “but it doesn’t really heal anything, it doesn’t change anything.”
Brandon’s family decided to donate his organs following his tragic death, hoping that some positive could come from this devastating loss. “We both decided that it would help carry his name, that he’s helping somebody,” dad Ron Holt said at the time.
