In a new interview, the dad of 8 got candid about his current situation — he has been waiting tables at 2 different restaurants and living in a cabin in the woods in Pennsylvania, seeing his kids on weekends. He opened up about his family situation — and even addressed his paparazzi gun incident!

Jon Gosselin took to The View on Sept. 26 to clear up misconceptions about himself, opening up about his new jobs, living situation, and custody arrangement with his kids. He even dished on his relationship with ex-wife Kate Gosselin! Get all the details here.

Jon Gosselin On ‘The View’ — Talks Waiting Tables, Gun Incident

“There’s a lot of misconceptions about me,” Jon told the ladies of The View. “One misconception is that I made millions on reality TV.” Jon revealed that he has put money from the show into trust account for his children’s future: the twins are now 12 years old and the sextuplets are 9.

“I had a normal life before television, during television, and now,” Jon explained of why his life is so simple now. He said that he is waiting tables and working 12 hours a day, which is why he doesn’t need TV and internet in his new cabin home, close to where his family lives in Pennsylvania. Jon said that he is having trouble finding an IT job because of the lawsuit Kate filed against him, alleging fraud, wire-tapping, and identity-theft.

Jon also had a gun incident, where he admitted to pulling a gun on a paparazzo who trespassed on his property on Sept. 20 and firing a shot as a warning. Jon said that he fired the gun sideways, where no one was in danger. “Kate should be concerned about me protecting my family and the house,” he said on The View.

Jon Gosselin’s Relationship With Kate Gosselin

Jon and Kate have been divorced for four years. The pair share custodial care of their eight kids, but Kate has primary legal control. Jon said that he sees his kids during the week and regularly on weekends. When they visit him, they enjoy “hiking and camping,” or as Jon calls it, “dad stuff — normal stuff.”

Jon admitted that he “wishes” his relationship with Kate was in a good place, but said that their interaction is all business. When they talk, it’s “texts about business, custodial stuff.” He said that their interactions have never reached the level of “acquaintances or friends.”

What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Are you shocked that Jon opened up about his family?

Selfish arrogant prick. Really, was the female paparazzi so scary, Jon? What are you hiding about your cabin?

Later, the kids will talk. As another poster said, indeed, “the truth will out!”

FINALLY… Relieved that Jon was given the podium and allowed to express himself. Will never understand, though, why the ex is given the velvet gloves treatment. She is despicable.

Wow! I bet Kate hated it that Jon was on The View. That’s “her” show. She’s supposed to be out promoting her new “cookbook”, but all she seems to be doing is bashing Jon. Glad to hear his side of the story.

Jon is such a great Dad and nice guy. It was good to see The View have him on and let people see that he’s a nice guy. Glad he was also able to set the record straight and not let Kate’s lies run the media blitz.

Jon has been doing everything he can to provide a stable and normal life for his children. Kate is full of bitterness because she blames him for pulling the plug on the kids being filmed. She is out of her mind and actually believes she belongs on TV and is a celebrity. She uses the kids to get attention in this regard.
You go Jon, fight for your children. The truth will out in the end.

Jon presented himself very well on The View. He was calm, well-spoken and engaging. None of the eye-darting, foot swinging, hemming and hawing that we see from Kate. When he was asked a direct question, he provided a direct answer. I’m glad to see him given the opportunity to defend himself against the constant and deliberate bashings from his ex. I’m also glad that at least one parent has the best interests of the children, OFF OF TELEVISION, at heart.

It’s about time Jon starting getting out there and setting the record straight. Sure, he made some mistakes early on when they were first separated but who wouldn’t after being married to that shrew for all those years. He has moved on and seems to truly have his children’s best interest at heart. I wish him nothing but the best.
