The dads are packing up and moving out or getting downright forced out of the girls’ lives. In the Sept. 23 episode, the ‘Teen Mom 3′ girls realize that they might be better off without their exes around. See what happened, here.
“If you’re not going to step up and help, you need to get out of our daughter’s life,” Briana DeJesus warned her daughter’s father, Devoin Austin. Matt McCann is called to take his belongings out of Alex Sekella‘s house in garbage bags. In a special hour and a half episode, the girls shed the dead weight — and also recap their decisions after watching the show back.
Briana DeJesus Wants Devoin Austin Out Of Daughter Nova’s Life
Briana explains that Devoin has still not paid for anything he promised to contribute to. When he comes over, Briana’s entire family notices that Devoin has no skill with Nova — they sit around with the baby for ten minutes in the most awkward encounter ever. Briana is initially okay without Devoin’s help, because she has her mom and sister Brittany to help, and thinks she can keep it going for 18 years to raise Nova.
Briana’s mom sees her daughter having to make the same decision she made — she told her daughters father to stay away and let her do the best that she can. Briana has confidence they she’ll have the love to support her, the way her mom did a great job. Briana invites Devoin over to ask him not to be in his daughter’s life.
“You think that kid is going to go down without fighting,” Briana’s mom asks sarcastically. You could cut the tension in the air with the knife when Briana tells her she’s feeling him more in the way than helpful. Devoin uses Briana’s absent father as an excuse for her life and why she’s not going to let him know his daughter, but Briana’s mom was not hearing that. She curses him out and kicks him out of the house, offended that he would say Briana grew up without a father. After the fight, Briana re-filed the order of protection against Devoin that she tried to serve him shortly after Nova was born, but dropped.
A police escort takes Briana and her family to Devoin’s house. Devoin accepts the serving without incident, immediately writing on Twitter, “I’M A FREE MAN!”
In the Teen Mom 3 aftershow, Briana reveals that she wishes her mom hadn’t interfered in her discussion with Devoin, because she took it to a more dramatic level. She explains that she hoped Devoin would have taken her intervention as a wakeup call to change and want to step up for this daughter.
Alex Sekella Works Toward Sole Custody Of Daughter Arabella
Matt absolutely ruined the family’s basement setup that they made for him to live in, leaving Alex’s mom distraught after working hard to accommodate him. Alex calls him out to come clean up the house to make her mother happy. Alex’s mom has a gentler approach to talking to Matt than Alex does — but neither of them get results. Two hours later, Matt comes over to pick up his stuff in garbage bags. When he starts asking about giving Arabella a kiss goodbye, Alex goes wild on him. “How am I making a bad decision, I’m taking a drug addict out of my daughter’s life!” Alex yells when her mom says she’s overreacting.
Alex is working hard at her jobs because she is trying to gain sole custody of Arabella, and she wants to make sure she can afford it. She doesn’t want to communicate with Matt for some time, only hoping to set up court-ordered supervised visits. Alex learns that Matt has become essentially homeless since she kicked him out — and she doesn’t really care. Matt’s drug counselor tests him, and he tests positive for marijuana. She explains that he’s unlikely to be granted visitation rights if he’s homeless and using.
In the Teen Mom 3 aftershow, Alex explained that she bought everything that her daughter ever used, saying Matt never chipped in for a diaper and has maybe spent 4 days with her since she was born.
Mackenzie Douthit Fears For Financial Stability As Josh McKee Starts Rodeoing Again
Mackenzie Douthit‘s boyfriend Josh McKee decided that he wants to make his living at rodeoing again. “It’ll be a rough way, but the only way I know how,” Josh says of earning money at the sport. Mackenzie takes her son Gannon to tumbling practice. The cheerleader realizes that her body isn’t what it used to be before having her baby — even though she’s in great shape.
Mackenzie wants to cheer in college, so she is focused on her sport. Her coach explains that with the unstable income of rodeoing, Mackenzie will be forced to rely mostly on herself and not Josh. She is already finding out how expensive it is to raise her baby, nevermind the worrying about Josh getting hurt.
Mackenzie jokes that she’s never letting Gannon do anything dangerous — saying he can “play the fiddle for the rodeo and say he lives the rodeo life.” In his first horse-riding event since his injury, Josh falls on his head and gets disqualified — he also didn’t win any money. Mackenzie starts the discussion about Josh having a reliable side job.
In the Teen Mom 3 aftershow, Mackenzie said that Josh’s rodeoing career is all about gambling, which is losing them a lot of money.
Katie Yeager Accuses Joey Maes Of Spending Their Money On Pot
Katie Yeager is getting overdraft notices from the bank, making her think that her boyfriend Joey Maes is falling back into old habits. They’re paying money they don’t have in overdraft fees, which doesn’t sit well with Katie.
“Molli will be freaking breastfed until she’s 5 because we have no money for groceries,” she bitterly tells Joey, before accusing him of spending their money on pot, and he counters with jabs about her father. Katie says that she smells pot on Joey even after they just talked about him not spending his money on weed. Joey’s family offers the voice of logic to him trying to straighten out his relationship with Katie — even his tiny brother and sister tell him that “proposing to a girl must mean something.”
“Pot is a drug, it makes you a drug addict,” Katie tells Joey.
“No, pot is pot. It makes me a pothead,” Joey countered.
Katie doesn’t want her daughter to have a drug addict dad like she did, or have split up parents the way she did. Katie recognizes the pattern of her own parents’ relationship. At therapy, Katie reveals that her dad was arrested for drug possession and intention to sell, setting off the trust issues that she’s now having with Joey. Joey maintains that the only thing he hasn’t changed for Katie is pot smoking.
In the Teen Mom 3 aftershow, Katie says the years without her dad were sad and lonely, and his arrest and prison sentence jarred the vision she had of her family. She sees her dad in Joey, and she sees his addiction behavior, fearing his relapse into hard drugs again.
What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Do you think Briana and her family were right to call out Devoin? Are you shocked at how the situation played out?
