Lea-Ann Ellison has a hardcore CrossFit workout routine that would impress any dedicated fitness guru — but some moms aren’t as sure she should be weight lifting so late into her pregnancy! She lifts and trains rigorously — even two weeks before giving birth to her third child. What do YOU think of her regime?

Former body builder Lea-Ann Ellison, 35, is keeping up her rigorous workouts — even eight months into her third pregnancy! The mom has two kids, ages 8 and 12, and continued her intense weight lifting regime into the final two weeks before welcoming her third child. After posting her story to the CrossFit brand’s Facebook page, Lea-Ann gained as many supporters as she did people concerned about her baby’s safety!

Lea-Ann is proud of her fitness routine.

“Eight months pregnant with baby number three and CrossFit has been my sanity. I have been CrossFitting for 2 ½ years and strongly believe that pregnancy is not an illness, but a time to relish your body’s capabilities to kick ass,” Lea-Ann commented on CrossFit’s Facebook.

Comments from CrossFitters and moms poured in, but the comments were split between being encouraging of Lea-Ann’s fitness goals and voicing concerns about her health — and endangering her unborn child!

CrossFit Mom Lea-Ann Ellison Reacts To Support & Haters

In an interview with ParentDish, Lea-Ann revealed:

People will always talk negatively about something they don’t understand. I am OK with that and it seems like the most ignorant people have the loudest mouths. The majority of people are positive and supportive. I have had so many thank you notes and fan mail that I feel overwhelmed.

I think it is sad that people would compare my weight lifting with smoking and drinking. Or call me a poor mother for keeping fit and strong during pregnancy.

Fitness begins early and pregnancy is not an illness. Moms need to quit being suppressed into a weaker role and take their health back. Move their bodies! Whether it is walking, swimming or weight lifting it doesn’t matter. As long as they eat healthy and exercise, their bodies will gain what weight is necessary to support their pregnancy.

Labor is a huge task on a mother’s body and there is no better time to be strong than in preparation for childbirth – especially if your goal is a natural drug-free birth.

What do YOU think, HollyMoms? Do you think Lea-Ann should be working out 8 months pregnant? Do you agree with her fitness routine?

It’s good to stay fit while pregnant. Probably safer to stick with low-impact exercise, such as walking, swimming, or yoga. Body builders know their bodies better than most & spend a great deal of time working on a healthy diet-something many preg. women don’t.
