Miley had to make herself cry for the ‘Wrecking Ball’ music video, but when she took the stage for the first time since breaking up with Liam, the tears were 100% all-natural. Watch the gut-wrenching performance below!
HollywoodLife.com told you exclusively that Miley Cyrus used her relationship struggles with Liam Hemsworth to drum up some tears in her music video for “Wrecking Ball.” So when she performed the song for the first time since breaking up with him at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nev. on Sept. 21, so many emotions came flooding out of Miley and she broke down in — very real — tears.
Miley Cyrus Cries Performing ‘Wrecking Ball’
Miley’s set at the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the MGM Grand was progressing as it usually does, with Miley in a suggestive outfit getting extremely raunchy on stage and yes, twerking with dwarves. But the mood of the concert changed completely when it came time for Miley to sing “Wrecking Ball.”
The emotionally-charged song that clearly seems to be about losing Liam obviously now has even more meaning than when Miley first sang it. It’s one thing to sing about the fear of losing the love of your life; it’s a totally different thing to sing about actually losing him.
And the heart-wrenching circumstances became apparent almost immediately — Miley sang her heart out, wailing on every note like her life depended on it. And by the end of the song, Miley had to just release all of that built-up emotion by crying. As the crowd cheered her on, Miley dabbed her eyes and wiped off her running mascara.
Miley Cyrus ‘Putting Up A Good Front’
Miley’s concert was the perfect symbolization of how she’s coping since breaking up with Liam. Most times she is able to put up a strong front and just keep on twerking, but there have been times when she gets vulnerable.
“Miley’s putting up a good front and trying to play it off like she doesn’t care but she’s really f’ed up over this,” another source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
Her shaky emotional state was on full display on Sept. 21, and we’re sure performing “Wrecking Ball” again actually let her get some things out and start the process of moving on.
