James Gandolfini Honored At 2013 Emmy Awards By Edie Falco
Edie took the stage with tears in her eyes as she remembered her dear friend and co-worker. She spoke very kind words about him while she recalled what a big heart he had during an emotional tribute on Sept. 22.
“He has tremendous warmth and heart,” she said. ” He was far more interested in turning the light onto people he thought were more worth,” she said, noting his “fierce loyalty to his friends.
“It’s Jim the man, the very dear man, that I will miss the most,” she said at the end of the tribute.
It truly is so sad how James was taken so suddenly for us.
James won three Emmy awards for his portrayal of Tony Soprano.
James Gandolfini Dies — Look Back At ‘The Sopranos’ Actor’s Career
James, 51, was in Italy to attend the 59th Taormina Film Festival in Sicily when he passed away on June 19, 2013. He was vacationing with his sister and 13-year-old son when he suffered the heart attack. James’ sister found him unconscious on the bathroom floor. She called an ambulance, but he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
James first came onto the scene when he starred in a Broadway version of A Streetcar Named Desire. Roles in Crimson Tide and Get Shorty, among other films, followed before he was cast as Tony Soprano on The Sopranos in 1999. The iconic HBO series ran through 2007.
He was also set to star and produce a new series for CBS. The network gave a script commitment to Taxi-22, an adaptation of the hit French Canadian single-camera comedy.
