The second-to-last episode ever of ‘Dexter’ left viewers completely stunned, but the show’s star tells HollywoodLife.com that the thrills are just getting started.
With just one episode of Dexter left — ever — things are not looking good for our favorite serial killer (the spoiler alerts start right about now). The Brain Surgeon is on the loose, Deb has a bullet hole in her abdomen, and Dexter’s dream of escaping to Argentina is growing dimmer by the second. With the series finale premiering tonight, Sept. 22 at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime, what’s in store for viewers? Dexter (Michael C. Hall) himself dropped some hints to HollywoodLife.com.
Michael C. Hall Talks About The ‘Dexter’ Series Finale
Michael tried to remain tight-lipped about his show’s final episode, but he did describe it as “a roller coaster ride.”
“All aspects of all the best roller coasters,” Michael said, “loops, hills, unanticipated turns, tunnels, upside-down sections.” Considering Dexter naively released Oliver Saxon (Darri Ingolfsson) back into the wild during the penultimate episode, which resulted in Debra (Jennifer Carpenter) clinging to her life after sustaining a gunshot wound, we have no reason but to believe Michael that this will be one of the craziest series finales ever.
Will Saxon defeat Dexter? Will Hannah McKay (Yvonne Strahovsky) actually end up being Dexter’s true enemy? And most importantly, will Dexter get caught once and for all?
Will ‘Dexter’ Have A Happy Ending?
One thing’s for sure — all of these possibilities seem more likely than Dexter finding peace in Argentina. And Michael seems to agree. “I think a happy ending would be that Dexter somehow finds himself released from his compulsion,” Michael told us, before unfortunately adding, “I don’t know if it’s realistic. Things have happened that have taught him that that’s not a possibility.”
Which is a pretty good point. After everything Dexter has been through, he can’t exactly just walk away.
Though Michael revealed that one of his biggest fans is hoping for exactly that: “My mother thought it would be nice if he ended up just joining a monastery or something.”
