Drake’s highly anticipated album has leaked early, giving all of us a chance to hear the record’s closing track, in which he and Jay Z honor RiRi with a sexy shout-out!
Drake & Jay Z Give Rihanna A Shout-Out
Drake’s new album, Nothing Was The Same, which is set to be released on Sept. 24, leaked onto the internet early on Sept. 15, and while we’re excited about the whole thing, it’s what happens on the final track featuring Jay Z, “Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2,” that has really piqued our interest.
On the closing song, Jay Z announces his third verse with a familiar line. “Cake, cake, cake, cake, cake, cake/500 million, I got a pound cake.” While Jay is basically just saying that he’s super-duper rich, the opening bar is no doubt a call-out to one of Drake and Jay Z’s favorite girls, Rihanna, who created the repetitive one-word hook in her song “Birthday Cake.”
It’s an unmistakable reference and definitely a clever way for Jay and Drake to let Rihanna know they’re thinking about her without stirring up too much controversy.
Drake & Rihanna: Are They Reuniting?
Drake could use the bonus points as he and RiRi seemingly inch towards a reunion. The former flames were last seen getting cozy at a VMAs after-party on Aug. 26 at the Dream Downtown in New York City, where Drake gave Rihanna a kiss, according to Page Six.
Three days before, Drake gave his main girl a kiss while they were at a dinner at Sons of Essex, an eyewitness told HollywoodLife.com exclusively.
And after Rihanna gets a taste of Drake and Jay’s fun reference, we’re sure more kissing will be in his future.
