Dancing With The Stars did not disappoint in the season 17 premiere on September 16! From trained performers to first-timers, you’ll never guess who ended up at the top — and bottom — of the leader board!
Dancing With The Stars Premiere — Season 17 Kicks Off
Brant Daugherty kicked off the night with pro partner Peta Murgatroyd dancing the Cha Cha Cha. They got a total score of 22.
Judge Bruno Tonioli said it best: “Brant and Peta –- very hot stuff and very easy on the eyes! That was a sizzling teaser of things to come! Plenty of hot morsels I’m waiting to taste!”
Leah Remini danced with partner Tony Dovolani. Bruno said: “She went Miley Cyrus for a moment. I want you to twerk!” Their first score was a 21/30.
HSM‘s Corbin Bleu danced Contemporary with Karina Smirnoff. “That was beautiful and passionate!” said Judge Carrie Ann Inaba. They got a total score of 24.
Jack Osbourne danced the Foxtrot with Cheryl Burke while his mom and Dad, Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, watched and sobbed from the crowd. “You were fabulous,” Len Goodman said. They got a score of 23.
Amber Riley, dancing with Derek Hough, killed the Cha Cha Cha! “You are the tigress of Season 17, that’s how you take it, that’s how you shake it!” Bruno said. Carrie Ann literally bowed to her as her Glee cast-mates looked on! They got a total score of 27 — the highest score of the night!
More Sexy Dances & Shirtless Men
Elizabeth Berkley danced with a near-shirtless Val Chmerkovsky. “It was lovely to watch,” Len raved. “The original showgirl is back! That was a great piece of dance,” Bruno said. They got a score of 24.
Bill Nye danced the Cha Cha Cha with new pro Tyne Stecklein. “It was like being waxed. It was painful while it happened and lovely when it was over. You’re willing but not that able,” Len said. “This formula is not going to get you the noble prize,” Bruno said. They got a low score of 14/30.
Football player Keyshawn Johnson danced the Cha Cha Cha with new pro Sharna Burgess. “Sometimes you lost timing. You really have to keep timing because you have the moves,” Bruno said. They got a score of 17.
Christina Milian danced Contemporary with Mark Ballas. “I think this dance really suited you,” Len said. “Mama, so much drama! I loved the intensity!” Bruno said. They got a score of 22.
Bill Engvall danced the Foxtrot with new pro Emma Slater. “It needed a little bit more fluidity but well done!” Len said. They got a score of 18.
The Premiere Wraps Up With Inspirational Moment
Valerie Harper, who is currently battling terminal cancer, danced the Foxtrot with Tristan MacManus and got a standing ovation before they even started moving! “It’s good to be alive and it’s better to be dancing!” Valerie said after their dance. Bruno started: “How can you criticize a national treasure? You are an inspiration to the nation! You’ve got nothing to fear. You’re light on your feet. I’m so happy you’re here.” Carrie Ann was brought to tears. Their total score was a 21.
Snooki (who looked amazing!) danced the Cha Cha Cha with Sasha Farber — there was even a first pump! “That was great, I was really impressed,” Carrie Ann said. “I loved your footwork! Well done,” Len said. They got a total score of 23.
Amber and Derek were at the top, while Bill Nye ended up at the bottom. The first pair will be eliminated next week, on September 23, so make sure you vote!
