53 girls competed on September 15 in Atlantic City, New Jersey for a chance to become the next Miss America! See who won the big competition below!
Lara Spencer and Chris Harrison hosted the exciting night, where girls hoped to inherit the crown from Miss America 2013 Mallory Hytes Hagan. It came down to Miss New York and Miss California — see who took home the crown below!
Miss America 2014 — The Competition Gets Underway
After the top 15 were announced, the competition really started to heat up!
First up was the swimsuit and fitness portion, which counts for 20 percent.
Miss Florida rocked a bedazzled knee brace as she tore two ligaments a few days before the pageant while practicing her talent — ouch!
Miss Kansas showed off the tattoo on the side of her body, the first contestant to do so in a pageant.
After the swimsuits came the gorgeous evening gown portion! Next, the ladies took the stage for the talent portion.
Miss New York performed a traditional Bollywood style dance as an tribute to her heritage. Miss Minnesota played the violin in front of judges Mario Cantone, The Chew‘s Carla Hall and Lance Bass.
And The Winner Is…
It came down to Miss California and Miss New York, but Miss New York took home the crown for the second year in a row!

Just before she won, she said she was excited to be making history as an Asian-American on the stage!
