Uh oh! Is the next great rap feud upon us? After calling his own ‘My Name Is My Name’ the ‘album of the year,’ rapper Pusha T says Lil Wayne has lost it as an emcee, dissing his highly anticipated mixtape.
Ouch! Pusha T has taken his beef with his rap rival Lil Wayne one step further, calling the Young Money leader’s new mixtape, Dedication 5, “trash.” Now those are some fighting words! What will Lil Wayne do in retaliation?
Pusha T Disses Lil Wayne’s Rapping — ‘Dedication 5’ Is ‘Trash’
Remember how rap feuds used to end? The more intense battles of Tupac and Biggie have come and gone, and these days, rappers are all about dissing each other’s albums and using Twitter to trade words with their rivals.
During a recent appearance on “Thursday Night Live With DJ Envy,” Pusha T revealed that he has listened to the Dedication 5 mixtape and he thinks it’s “trash.” The My Name Is My Name rapper also noted that Lil Wayne has officially lost it as an emcee.
The feud has been brewing between the two ever since Pusha T went after Young Money in 2012 and Lil Wayne tweeted in response, “Fuk Pusha T and anybody that love em.” But Pusha T was quick to make light of the situation, saying:
This how it is for real with me. I’m just having fun. I’m really just having fun with it. The thing is though, these guys got so many fans that when you make blanket statements like ‘F Pusha T’ on Twitter and all that type of stuff, you can’t just let things like that go. Because they got so many fans that by the time it gets quiet everybody gon’ start looking at you like ‘Man, he just gets over on you’ and so on and so on. So, it’s like I just play with it. I just toy with it. Totally just toy with it and have my fun with it. And then he’s sort of rapping bad so that doesn’t help. I’m good, he’s bad.
We like how Pusha T snuck that insult in at the end. It seems each rapper feels differently about where this battle will go, so who will fire the next shot? Have things just begun or is this beef coming to an end? Your move, Lil Wayne!
Lil Wayne Talks About Jail & Retiring To Katie Couric
Perhaps Pusha T’s latest poke at Lil Wayne is justified, because Lil Wayne seems to be taking his career in a different direction. In 2010, he served eight months of a one year sentence for a gun possession charge. But now he is trying to make himself seem a little more tame to the world. When he appeared on Katie Couric‘s show, Katie, and she asked him what jail was like, Lil Wayne was quick to reply, “Thank you to people around me, my family, friends and fans. They made it a walk in the park.”
Katie thought the other inmates would enjoy having a celebrity in jail and asked him about that, and he coyly responded, “Uh…it’s jail.”
Lil Wayne said he is determined to stay out of trouble — and jail — from now on. So what’s next for him?
“I know I’ll be able to retire at 35, because I am so ready to retire now,” he told Katie. So maybe he is getting a little soft and Pusha T has a point — or maybe Lil Wayne knows something we don’t know.
