Is Drake, 26, trying to start another feud with Chris Brown, 24, and stir up old memories of Rihanna in his new single ‘Wu Tang Forever?’
Drake’s third single, ‘Wu-Tang Forever,’ off of his third studio album, ‘Nothing Was the Same,’ references the hip hop group of the same name and their historically acclaimed album ‘Wu-Tang Forever.’ Besides paying homage to the group, it also sounds like he puts salt on an old wound with Chris Brown and reminisces on his romantic relationship with Rihanna, 25. What do the lyrics say?
Drake Disses Chris Brown In ‘Wu-Tang Forever’
Drake‘s third album, ‘Nothing Was the Same’ is being released on Sept. 24 — and we’re excited to listen to the whole album based on the latest single that was released on Sept. 12. “Wu-Tang Forever.” The lyrics sound like Drizzy is definitely dissing Chris Brown:
I just like the rush when you see your enemy somewhere in the club
And you realize he just not in a position to reciprocate your energy
You ain’t ever worried cause he’s not who he pretends to be
Is the rapper referencing the infamous June 2012 bloody brawl inside NYC club W.i.P between himself and Chris? Sounds like it, since the last studio album he put out was in 2011, Take Care. Based on his lyrics, it doesn’t sound like he’s afraid to face him again at a club, insinuating that Breezy is weak and has a fake personality. Major burn!
Drake Misses Rihanna In ‘Wu-Tang Forever’
Drake’s enemy isn’t the only person from his past in the song. We think he also majorly references Rihanna in his lyrics:
I just love when I’m with you, yeah, this shit is on ten
We used to be friends, girl, and even back then
This could reference Drake and Rihanna looking friendly together at a VMAs after-party, even reportedly kissing her on the cheek, and going to dinner together with friends in NYC — it sounds like he misses their old romantic and fun times together as a couple.
He also raps:
If you nervous, hit the lights, I know we only fucking out of spite
Cause your man don’t do you right, do you right, I could fuck you so good
Noted, Drake! With Rihanna and Chris’ on-and-off troubles, it sounds like Drizzy thinks that Rihanna should be — uh — more satisfied — and felt cheated out of her true feelings when they were intimate together. He’s still totally protective of her, allegedly texting Gucci Mane after he sent out a rampage of tweets dissing high-profile women, saying he slept with them. Drake texted him, “You didn’t do anything with Ri-Ri did you?”
Sounds like Drake is nostalgic for RiRi — but isn’t afraid to see Chris at a club! What do YOU think, HollywoodLifers? If you were Rihanna, would you be upset at Drake’s lyrics, or flattered that he missed you? Sound off!
