Lamar’s ongoing alleged struggle with drugs has been incredibly hard for Khloe Kardashian, but his children have been just as affected as she has. A source tells HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY how they have been handling the unfortunate incident.
Knowing your dad is possibly going through the darkest time of his life has to be extremely hard, and seeing every bump in the road so heavily publicized must only make it worse. But as Lamar’s wife Khloe Kardashian continues to take active measures to try to get him help, a source tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively that his children are just trying to maintain a level of normality.
Lamar Odom’s Children: How They’re Reacting To His Alleged Drug Issues
“They are so young and trying to do the school thing and be kids,” the source says of Lamar’s children — Destiny, 15, and Lamar Jr., 11. “They are not reading reports but they are in consistent contact with their father and are aware of his troubles.”
Though Lamar has shut down communication with mostly everyone, the source says that he is still trying to be a good father during this unbelievably hard time. “When he talks to them he is just Dad,” says the source. “He doesn’t bring his issues to them, just love.”
All of his children are still so young, so the insider says what is most important to Lamar is making sure their lives don’t change too drastically because of this episode: “The overall consensus is to leave them out of the heavy stuff and have as normal a childhood as possible.” That has to be the best move right now.
“Destiny understands what’s happening but for the most part, the family keeps these types of issues away from her and her brother,” another source told HollywoodLife.com. “She’s had issues in the past and we don’t want anything like that to happen again. It’s not healthy for them to see or hear about their dad struggling with this situation so it’s something that’s not discussed.”
Khloe Kardashian Breaks Off Communication
Meanwhile, Khloe is switching up her strategy, and isn’t even trying to talk to Lamar anymore. It’s not that she doesn’t want to help, it’s just that she may have realized that leaving him alone is the best way to help.
“She is being instructed by an addiction and intervention expert to not try and persuade him to go to rehab because he will just shut down,” another source told HollywoodLife.com exclusively. “She wants to go downtown and bring him back home, but she knows that’s not going to happen.”
No matter what the strategies are, it’s clear that Lamar’s entire family is hoping that he can recover from this scary episode.
