Dennis Basso Runway — Channeling Old Hollywood Glamour With Your Makeup
HollywoodLife.com got the low-down on what exactly went into creating this look, and of course, how to get it! We talked with lead makeup artist, Kabuki, to learn how they captured this fresh-faced look.
Kabuki told HollywoodLife.com that the designer was going for a sort of “Marilyn Monroe, late 40’s, movie star” look. To achieve this, he first started out by using Ardency Inn Americana Custom Coverage Concentrate to achieve a very clean look — he mentioned that this can suit many different types of women!
The main product that was used to achieve this youthful look was Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper. The eyes were one of the big statements in the makeup look, because it created a natural and more girly appearance. A swipe to the upper lash line of this product, and instant Marilyn Monroe status! If you wanna make your eyes really pop, Kabuki suggested using a set of false lashes and applying them to the outer half of the eye. The best lashes to use would be the Sephora Collection False Eye Lashes in Celebrity — these were the exact ones used in the show!
To complete the exact look, you need to have that sexy, fun lip that the models rocked on the runway. Kabuki used Bite Beauty High Pigment Matte Pencil in Toast — the burnt-orange lip was an instant standout and will definitely capture attention!
What is so great about this runway look is that it’s a sophisticated look, but still sexy. What makeup artist Kabuki really liked about the look was the fact that, “the look is adaptable to what the models are when they come in. It’s not a theatrical look, it’s still a real life look.”
This nod to the days of the 1940’s pin-up girl is a current look that anyone would look fabulous in! Want to get all of these products in one easy step? They can all be found at Sephora.com.
Sleek Runway Ponytails — Anyone Can Get This Look
The makeup and the clothes were the real statement pieces in the show, so they wanted to keep the hair simple and clean. To get this slicked back ponytail, we suggest that you use Agadir Argan Oil Firm Hold Volumizing Hairspray. Just spray a little onto your roots and comb back into a slick ponytail. This spray will keep your frizzies tamed, and add that extra volume to your hair!
