The designer sent a California cool collection down the runway for Spring 2014 — and we loved it! Read on to find out which stars we think it would look best on & WATCH Tommy talk about his latest line right here.
Tommy Hilfiger‘s Spring 2014 collection brought a cool, West Coast vibe to NYC during fashion week — and it came complete with sand dunes, surfboards, and a boardwalk that served as a runway. The elaborate backdrop was the perfect landscape for the designer’s latest collection, which embodied a classic and cool vibe.
Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2014 Collection:
The line stayed true to Tommy’s Americana vibe and the looks embodied California cool girls. From dresses made out of neoprene to swim separates and cozy knits, the collection looked like it was inspired by an active and stylish girl on-the-go, but with more of a flirty, beach babe twist. If Malibu Barbie had a cooler sister with a brand new wardrobe, she would love the feminine silhouettes and the way Tommy translated the scuba suit and infused the elements of the beach staple into his latest collection.
I thought the chunky knits were very wearable and I loved the color palette, made up of cool aqua hues and warm reds and oranges. While I could see a slew of young stars that like to hit the beach, like Ashley Benson, embracing the shorts and soft sweaters, I could see the jersey dresses on Rihanna — they are write up her alley! As for the more classic silhouettes in neoprene and popping prints, I think a fashion-forward young star like Chloe Moretz would be the ideal choice for really making the look their own.
From the backdrop to the collection to the soundtrack, it doesn’t get more cohesive than Tommy Hilfiger’s Spring 2014 collection. The show opened with the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Californication,” while Anthony Kiedis himself took in the show from the front row. Check out the collection, watch our interview with Tommy, and let us know what you think of his Spring 2014 line.
