From satin minis to rompers that featured stars, the collection is perfect for a fashion-forward set of stars, including Elle Fanning and Chloe Moretz, to name a few!
Marc Jacobs knows how to command your attention, and that’s exactly what he did when his Spring 2014 Marc by Marc Jacobs collection came down the runway with Jeffrey Lewis & The Rains’s “WWPRD (What Would Pussy Riot Do?)” playing over the speakers. We saw separates in shiny satin, for both men and women, while the vibrant collection had an effortlessly cool vibe.
Marc By Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 Collection:
The collection reminded us of a casual, downtown party girl with a punk rock vibe who can simply throw on the first thing she reaches for in her closet without having to put too much thought into it — and the theme continued throughout the collection thanks to the way it was styled. Take the hair, parted in the middle, and the blue eyeshadow, for example. While the models sported bold lids the rest of the beauty was quite minimal and even the more formal looks were paired with white sneakers.
Aside from a slew of separates, (which included high-waisted, printed pants, shorts, and blouses), we also saw slip dresses and minis and even a gown decorated with stars. Stars proved to be one of the most prominent prints in the collection. I could easily see the look on the stylish young Chloe Moretz, while a romper with stars looked like the perfect piece for Marc fan Miley Cyrus.
While the collection might not be what one has come to expect from the brand, it was cohesive and wearable — and it had that signature Marc Jacobs edge! After all, you know it’s only a matter of time before we see the looks on the red carpet.
