It was all about movement at Carolina Herrera’s runway show, where models sauntered out in a slew of looks that could have went right from the runway to the red carpet!
Carolina Herrera debuted her Spring 2014 collection on Sept. 9 during New York Fashion Week. Although the looks were all for spring, the majority of the black-and-white hues had us feeling more fall. Model Karlie Kloss opened the designer’s show, sporting a striped skirt and a white shirt — a look that’s one of the designer’s personal signatures! Separates gave way to intricate gowns that were all about movement — and it’s definitely only a matter of time before we get to watch them make their way down the red carpet.
Carolina Herrera Spring 2014 Collection:
The designer is known for her refined take on elegance and while that was evident on the runway so was her inspiration — the kinetic art movement. The Spring 2014 collection was like one big optical illusion, with sheer, printed fabrics layered over one another in a way that the prints collided, resulting in depth. While the prints were bold, (and almost quite dizzying), the fabrics were soft, skimming over the models bodies to create feminine and flattering silhouettes.
Carolina showed to a star-studded front row which included Downton Abbey‘s Michelle Dockery, Brittany Snow, Christina Ricci, and Dita Von Teese. While we could easily see these stars showing off the gorgeous gowns from the runway, we especially think fashion-forward Keira Knightley would look amazing in the gowns. Keira’s enchanted red carpet style was so consistent with the looks we saw come down the runway. Aside from Keira, one of Carolina’s fans, Olivia Munn, would also look stunning in the looks — I thought a gown with a cutout at the chest was made for the Newsroom actress.
