Well that was weird. The Real Slim Shady dropped in to the ESPN broadcast booth on Sept. 7 to promote his new music video for “Berzerk,” but all anyone could focus on was how odd he was acting! Watch the video below and tell us what you think!
Eminem is from Detroit, Michigan, so obviously his people and the people of ESPN saw a perfect opportunity to get together and let him promote his new music video, “Berzerk,” during the Michigan-Notre Dame college football game. Only it didn’t quite go as smoothly as anyone hoped.
Eminem Gets Awkward On ESPN
While ESPN broadcasters Brent Musberger and Kirk Herbstreit introduced Em (or Marshall Mathers, as they called him), he just stared aimlessly into the distance. What was he looking at that had him so tranced out? We may never know.
Surprisingly, the interview only got more awkward from there! After they showed a clip of the new “Berzerk” music video, Eminem explained his odd behavior: “Sorry. Live TV. Live TV freaks me out a little bit.” Which is sort of strange considering Eminem has been a superstar for about 15 years now, but at least he has an explanation.
The broadcast went to a break at that point, but Eminem was only able to compose himself a little bit by the time the game came back on (and by that we mean he was just no longer awkwardly gazing into the abyss). Kirk tried to start a conversation: “Album’s coming out in November, what are you most excited about with this new album?”
“Um, nothing,” Eminem answered. Okay, moving on!
Eminem: ‘I’m Really Uncomfortable Right Now’
It finally looked as though the interview would end on a good note, as Marshall let go of his nerves and told Brent that he was a legendary sports broadcaster. Nice. But when Brent responded by saying, “You, my friend, are the legend,” it put us right back where we started.
“I’m really uncomfortable right now,” Eminem bluntly stated.
Wow. Eminem may be completely in control when he’s rapping, but everyone should probably think twice before pairing him up with a couple of sports geeks again.
